Standard copyright laws do apply on the Web and it is wise to avoid publishing the work (text, image,

audio, video) of others without their formal permission.

1 – you’re safe with original materials.2 – if you’re borrowing someone else’s material,

license the right to use it.3 – public domain materials are lucrative, but still it’s wise to investigate the copyright status every

bit of item you wish to use. 4 – make use of fair use when you’re

appropriating other’s web pages for your web pages.

5 – can you link to just any web sites? Is there a doctrine of implied public access on the WWW?

6 – if you’re publishing composite web pages, are you taking the pages out of their original context?
