Auto Breaking and Entering
September 2010Activity Summary:
• There were thirty-one (31) Auto B&Es reported in September 2010. There were twenty-one (21) Auto B&Es
reported during the same timeframe in 2009. This is a 48% increase from 2009 to 2010.
• Every zone experienced one or more incidents with West 2 having the highest number of ten (10), or 32%.
• Nine (9), or 29%, of the incidents were reported in A-1.
• Twenty (20), or 65%, of the incidents took place at residential locations.
• Seventeen (17), or 55%, of the incidents involved forced entry.
•
Thirteen (13), or 42%, of the incidents were discovered on a Tuesday.• Eleven (11), or 35%, of the incidents were discovered between the hours of 0800 and 1159.
• Thirteen (13) incidents are open for further investigation, seventeen (17) have been closed with leads
exhausted, and one (1) has been closed cleared by arrest.
Historically, HPD has an average of 22 Auto B&Es during the month of September with a current threshold of 5 to 39.
This September, we were within the threshold with 31 reported Auto B&Es.
Forecast for October:
The average number of Auto B&Es for the month of October is 30 plus or minus 14. By the end of October, there is
a 68% chance HPD will have received between 16 and 44 reported Auto B&Es.
