PTS 400.3 PLUS Three-phase, fully automatictest system with class 0.02 reference stan-dard and integrated three-phase current andvoltage source available in two versions.

Two modules allowing combinations formany applications

Formany years, electricity utility companies haverealized the importance of performing measure-ments and tests, on-site, at the metering installa-tion. MTE continually supplies and develops newand improved products that reduces and simpli-fies the on-site efforts. The test systemPTS400.3PLUS with enhanced functionality and high mea-surement accuracy does not only determine theaccuracy of meters, but also provides additionalinformation relating to the conditions at therespectivemains points.

ThePTS400.3 PLUS system consists of the refe-rence standard PRS 600.3 of class 0.02 and thepower sourcemodule PPS400.3, which is availa-ble in two versions of up to 12Aor 120A.

The reference standard PRS 600.3 may be sim-ply and quickly connected with the power sourcemodule PPS 400.3 thereby producing a portabletest system with 1 up to 3 positions. Operation ofthe system may begin immediately after connec-ting bothmodules.

In this combination, the reference standard con-trols the source via blue-tooth.

Due to the extended power quality analyzerfunctions of the reference standard PRS 600.3,the test system can also be used to resolvedisputes at contractual applications, for statis-tical surveys, including EN 50160 reporting, andfor online troubleshooting of different kind ofpowerqualityproblems.

The power source module, if used without thePRS 600.3, can be controlled via the serialinterface RS 232 C. It is therefore possible toeasily apply the source module unchanged in astationarytestsystem.

The operator can not only perform single teststeps but also can easily predefine and store auto-matic test runs using the sequence function andadvanced database functions of the system.

The overall functionality is comparable tomodernstationarymeter test systems.

In case the touch operation is not possible (e.g. ifgloves must be worn for safety reasons at on-sitetests), the system can also be operated with theintegrated pen on the right side of the housing.

The two displays with identical graphical userinterface can be used to control the referencestandard and the power source each with a sepa-rate display or they can be used to show differentfunctions of the sameunit on two displays.

The same functionality is available on both sides, left and right, freely selectable by the user.

    Operation of the system

The PRS 600.3 is the operation interface for thetwo system modules of the Portable Test SystemPTS 400.3 PLUS and allows direct operation ofthe reference standard and / or one of the availa-ble portable power source modules PPS 400.3-12AorPPS400.3-120A.

The operation concept is based on touch screenoperation with self-explaining functional softwarebuttons.

    Modules

Further the system can alternatively also be com-fortably operatedwith a keyboard or amouse con-nected to the USB type A connector of thePRS600.3. This is especially useful, if the systemis operated in the laboratory.

  • Modules

    PRS 600.3 Portable peference standard

The reference standard of the modular system isbased on the well-known digital measurementvalue retrieval, fast analogue-digital conversionand calculation of the values using fast signal pro-cessors. As opposed to the past, reference stan-dards are not only used as standards for metertesting in a stationary meter test installation, butpredominantly in the field for the measurement ofallmain parameters.

In order to meet these requirements, the PRS600.3 offers the followingmain functions:

Simultaneous testing of up to three meters orregisters of amulti-functionalmeter

Internal memory for measurement results andcustomer data

Vector diagram, harmonics spectrum, waveform and rotary field display for analysis of themains conditions

Active, reactive and apparent energy measur-ement in three-wire or four-wire circuits withintegrated error measurement and pulse out-put for energy

    Voltagemeasurement

Current measurement, direct and with currenttransformer clamps up to 3000Aor sensors forvoltage and currentmeasurements on high vol-tage potential

Active, reactive and apparent powermeasure-ment per phase and sumof all phases

Phase angle, power factor and frequencymea-surement

Burden measurement and ratio test of PTsandCTs

Power quality recording and analysis regar-ding standard IEC61000-4-30

PPS 400.3 Portable power source module

The PPS 400.3 portable power source modulemay be used as enhancement of the referencestandard PRS 600.3 as well as independently.Following the different demands of the custo-mers, this source is available in two versions, forthe supply of transformermeters with amaximumcurrent up to 12Aas well as a wider range sourceup to 120 A.The source is designed to generateany network independent of its supply voltage,e.g. 3-phase 4-wire Y or , 3-phase 3-wire, 1-phase 2-wire or others. Generation of harmonicsin both voltage and current circuits aswell as ripp-le control signals are available.

The power source module may be connected tothe reference meter with little effort. The controlsoftware automatically recognises the module. Itmay therefore immediately be put into operation, and automatic measurement of a load curve ofthemetermay begin.

Controlling the source is carried out in a similarway as to control the reference meter, by use ofone of the PRS 600.3 touch displays or via RS232C.

ThePPS400.3 source is developed such as to befully operational without the referencemeter.

CALegration combines the various functionalmodules required inmodern stationary and porta-ble test devices, with a common and consistentuser interface.

The modular system allows the control of varioushardware units with a common software platform.Functions for laboratory or on-site measurementare provided together with the ability to test highlycomplexmodernmeters (smart meters) with inte-gral tariff devices.

For any test equipment, test sequence or metertype, CALegration is structured along the follow-ing basic test elements:

By setting up newsuch as e.g. contact details of energy customers, also client information can be added to the meterstock. can be definedand called out for testing on-site installations. With CALegration various canbe defined. A test procedure or test sequencedescribes the order and content of different

in a whole procedure. For eachtest step the desired Source Settings (current, voltage, phase angle, frequency etc.), TestSettings (e.g. error measurement) and ControlFunctions (e.g. automatic meter readout) can bespecified.

    Automatic Test

After executing an AutomaticTest or aManual Control /Mea-surement all saved results arecentralized on the SQL data-

base and available for further data processing, such as creating an individual detailed test reportor export to MS Excel tables. This is particularlyuseful for new meter evaluation, long runningproblemmeter analysis and duplicating field con-ditions.

The CALegration enables theuser to create and define their own protocolmasks (calibration certificates, pass / fail reports, statistical reports, customer reports etc). With itsflexibility to add on logos, diagrams and text fields(e.g. for signatures), the Report Designer meetsindividual and different requirements. Further-more, on the basis of theSQLdatabase, full resulthistories and protocols of meter types or particu-larmeters can be generated and stored.
