The answer is simple. In one month’s time purchase $250 worth of Shop for POP gift cards from your favorite store or restaurant at FACE VALUE. Yes, you read correctly, face value. Your child(ren) is now qualified to have a free dress day the following month.

Q. How does it work?A. The participating retailers sell gift cards to POPCS at a discount. POPCS sells them to you at face value and the difference is revenue that is used to support events and special projects at the school.

Q. Where can I purchase the gift cards?A. There are two ways to purchase the gift cards:

In-Person: Shop for POP gift cards are sold every morning during student drop-off out of the concession stand in the Fine Arts foyer.

Payment: Cash or check preferred, credit cards accepted.

Online: Log on to www.shopwithscrip.com to access ALL cards available for purchase. Full directions are on the ptf website.

Payment: Check/Cash or PrestoPay

Just to repeat, once again, how simple it is. Purchase $250 in Shop for POP gift cards for the month and your child(ren) is qualified to have a free dress day the following month. A school-wide email goes out to all families who have qualified for the month.

Box TopCollections

Thank you for collecting Box Tops all summer long! If you have not already dropped off your summer box top collections, please send them to your teacher (each teacher has an official Box Tops collection box in their classroom) or drop off in the designated box in the Parent Place by September 1. Additionally, we will be holding a Box Tops contest in the fall between classes ranging from preschool-fifth grade. The class that collects the most Box Tops will win a Tiff’s Treats Milk and Cookie party. Fall submission deadline is November 1. You will be surprised how many items offer Box Top collection opportunities for our school. If you want to see a complete list, please click here: http://popcsptf.com/fundraising/box-tops/

Don’t forget to log your Volunteer Hours

Did you know you could log in your service hours directly from your iPhone?

Download the Renweb app from the App Store

Login just like you do online

Select “school” from the main page

Select “family” from the bottom of the page

Select “service hours” from the page

Select “your name” from the page

Select “Add Service Hours” from the bottom of the page

If you have volunteered even one hour, we want to know about it. Why? Because keeping track of total volunteer hours helps our school show potential donors, prospective families, and the community how generously our families support our school with their time and talents. The school can also earn grant money for hours logged.

For those of you who would rather log your hours on the computer, please go to the PTF website http://popcsptf.com/volunteers/volunteer-hours-login/for detailed directions.

As we do our weekly shopping, let’s take an extra moment to pay special attention to the products we are purchasing, and try to pick as many products as possible that have Labels for Education on them. Remember to clip those labels, and save them to submit to school.

As always, please remember to cut the full label with bar code out as illustrated below.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Anita Hungle, [email protected].

See the complete list of participating products on our PTF website: http://popcsptf.com/fundraising/labels-education/

May Volunteers of the Month

Wendy Rocco

Wendy Rocco and her husband, Rick are the proud parents of two POPCS students - Olivia, Grade 2 and Jameson, Pre-K 4. Led by circumstances beyond their control they became a part of the Eagle family. They feel that attending POPCS has turned out to be a true blessing from God for their family. Further more, the Roccos have met so many amazing people and couldn't be happier with their decision to entrust their children to the unbelievable teachers and staff at Prince of Peace. Wendy, also known as 'Coach Wendy' to some of the 2nd grade girls, helps coach several sports for Olivia and her classmates. Sharing her love of sports with the next generation is something she cherishes. Further, she enjoys seeing the girls work hard and improve from season to season. The Christ-like example that she sees manifested in the parents at POPCS, both on and off the playing field/court, inspires her to try and live a better life each day. Wendy has enjoyed the opportunity to volunteer more over the past few months and looks forward to many more years as part of the POPCS family!

Due to the release dates of our bi-monthly newsletter, our May VOM’s were recognized in the Eagle Express but not the PTF Messenger.

Rev. David Taylor

David Taylor's children have been attending classes at Prince of Peace since 2008. Since that time David has volunteered for numerous activities. You have probably seen him in the mornings at the Shop for POP table with D Murphy. David has helped out with lower school activities including outdoor education, engineering day, lunch relief, and fifth grade class trips. This year he has also added Destination Imagination Team Manager to his résumé, leading a team made up of Grades 3 & 4 students. David has also visited the Pre-K classroom over the past two years sharing his musical gifts with the children. As they go through the alphabet, David has brought in instruments that begin with those letters: B - banjo, G - guitar, H- harmonica, M - mandolin, T - trumpet/trombone, U - ukulele. David has also volunteered to go on several middle school trips including Pine Cove, Grand Canyon, Austin, and Corpus Christi. David will celebrate 30 years in ministry this fall and believes that volunteering with the activities of his children at Prince of Peace is an extension of that ministry. A saying David believes and has picked up from youth ministry events is, "The call to Christ is the call to serve." David has done this at Prince of Peace Christian.
