Parent to Parent:

Navigating Your Blue Jay’s Day at BCE

School begins at 7:45 a.m. sharp every day.

Students may begin arriving at 7:20. After 7:45

students are considered tardy. After 9:00 they

are considered absent unless they have a note

from a healthcare provider stating they were at

an appointment.

Students may be dropped off at the front

entrance or enter through the back. If you drop

off your child along Stonebridge Drive, please

follow traffic laws and make sure your child

crosses the street at a designated crosswalk.

Students arriving before 7:35 should go to the

following areas to wait with teacher supervision:

Cafeteria

Kinder, 1st, and 3rd Grades

Gymnasium

2nd, 4th and 5th Grades

Visiting and Volunteering

Brushy Creek welcomes parents to visit their children during lunch and to volunteer in one of the many capacities listed on the attached PTA Volunteer Form.

To ensure your child’s safety, all visitors are asked to present their driver’s license upon their first visit. Likewise, all on-campus volunteers in the Round Rock School District are required to fill out a short confidential background check every year. This form can be found on the BCE Website: http://brushycreek.roundrockisd.org

If your child is buying lunch, you can send cash

or a check or prepay online through

PayPams (www.paypams.com). The cost for

the basic lunch tray is $2.30; milk or juice is

$0.60. Hot breakfast is also available daily for

$1.35 from 7:20am-7:35am. Check the school

website for your child’s lunchtime.

Find more info such as HOW TO REPORT AN

ABSENCE and much more by visiting the BCE

Website at http://brushycreek.roundrockisd.org

There are multiple ways to pick up your child after school. You may select the one that works best for your family. If you need to change your child’s mode of transportation, send a note to your child’s teacher, click on the icon on the school website or call the front office by 2:00 p.m.

Kindergarten students will not be dismissed without someone to pick them up. If you are late, your child will be waiting for you in the office.

Bus Riders and Day Care Vans: To see bus routes and times, go to www.roundrockisd.org and use the School & Bus Route Locator. Some after-school day care programs also offer van transportation to their facilities. Students who ride buses and day care vans are escorted by their teacher from their classroom to their designated area in the rear of the building to wait for their transportation. This area is supervised by staff.

Car Riders: The car rider line forms in front of the school on Great Oaks Drive and starts moving around 2:50 p.m. As you enter the front driveway, a staff member will radio your child’s name to a “receiver” staff member. Have your child’s name and grade clearly visible on your windshield to expedite the process. (Ask your teacher for the form). Pull to the furthest point in the line. Your child will be escorted to the car by school staff and safety patrol students.

Front Walkers: Front walkers exit the front of the building directly from the Kindergarten wing area of the school on Great Oaks Drive and walk or ride their bikes home from there. If you will be meeting your child, be there by 2:45.

Back Walkers: Students are dismissed from their classrooms to proceed to the back of the building onto the blacktop. Parents who drive their back walkers home park along the west side of Stonebridge Drive or the church parking lot across the street and then meet their children on the blacktop.

Remember to obey school zone speed limit and cell phone laws and only cross the streets at designated crosswalks!

STAY SAFE!
