General Information 1. Location : East Flores District

First Survey : December 5th, 2017

Second Survey : October 8th, 2018

Numbers of Fish : The total number of fleets in skipjack and yellowfin tuna fishing that are recorded as parts of PT

Primo Indo Ikan supply chain is 17

2. Fishing Method

- Minimum harvest size : Yellowfin Tuna is 20Kg/, skipjack is 1 kg/ ekor

- Fishing method : Pole and Line; Handline

- Price Range : IDR 15.000/Kg for skipjack and IDR 45.000/Kg for tuna

The fish trading is directly done from the fishers to the company. The flow is the captain of pole and line informs PT Primo Indo Ikan that the fishers

are able to provide fish and vessel is ready to be landed. The staff and the PIC from QC division will go to the fishing base located in PPI Amagarapati

and have the transaction in the deck. During the transaction process, staff of PT Primo Indo will measure, record catch result data and make individual

tagging consisting of date entering the vessel, name of vessel, fish number, weight, grade, the type of product and line of vessel. Meanwhile, due to

the more number of catch result of skipjack, the tagging is done right after the fish is stored in cold storage in the factory. The grading process is

based on the quality of measured fish. After this process, the catch result is distributed to the factory taking around 45 minutes.

3. Capacity of Production

Based on the capture fisheries statistics of Nusa Tenggara Timur (NTT) Province in 2016 the skipjack production in East Flores District reached 935

tons and 418 tons for yellowfin tuna. This district contributes 22% to the skipjack production and 14% to yellowfin tuna production in Nusa Tenggara

Timur. During May – December 2017, the skipjack production of PT Primo Indo Ikan is 721.582 kg and yellow fin tuna is 19.212 kg with 891 trips.

Comparing the production data of PT Primo Indo Ikan with the production data of the East Flores statistics data, PT Primo Indo Ikan contributed 77%

to the skipjack production and 5% to the yellowfin tuna production.

4. Additional Information

a. A BMP-skipjack and Data Compliance training was held on December 5th, 2017 attended by 23 fishers of PT Primo Indo Ikan with the average

pre-test score was 56.7 and post-test 69.6. In addition, there was increasing score of knowledge on skipjack fishing techniques using pole and

line fishing gear 19% with compliance score was 63.65%.

c. The Indonesian Constitution Number 23 Year 2014 obligating companies to have permit issued by the Fisheries Office of Nusa Tenggara Timur

affects the vessel permit for pole and line fishing gear in Larantuka causing an inefficient time, effort and cost. Meanwhile, there is no

representative of the Fisheries Office of NTT Province to solve the problem. In addition, the Fisheries Office of East Flores District does not

have authority either to issue vessel permit or other documents required in the pole and line fishing practice.
