Objectives: Anti-social Personality Disorder
• In addition to understanding/explaining the types, causes, symptoms, and treatments of antisocial personality disorder, you’ll need to do the following:
• Contrast the three clusters of personality disorders: cluster A (odd/eccentric), cluster B (dramatic/erratic), and cluster C (anxious/inhibited).
Cluster A: all are cold and distant
• Paranoid personality disorder—suspicious of surroundings
• Schizoid personality disorder—fear of intimacy and closeness
• Schizotypal personality disorder—disordered thinking, perception, and communication skills.
Cluster B: Unstable
• Borderline: inconsistent moods, manipulative, impulsive
• Antisocial: disregard of feelings, property, authority, and lack of respect for others
• Narcissistic: overly-inflated feelings of self-worth, exploit others
• Histrionic: superficial and exaggerated; seeking attention
Cluster C
• Dependent: lack self-confidence, hard time making decisions
• Avoidant: hypersensitive to rejection• OCD: inflexible to change
