STORYLINEBlake Teoh is a skilful basketball player in Malaysia. He became famous due to his good visual and basketball skills. Due to his reputation, he received an invitation to a training camp in America.

When Blake trained in America, he was look down by other local players due to his height and his identity as an Asian. He always got attack and push by others in every game. Blake felt sad but he did not give up and took it as a challenge. He train harder and paid more effort than other by practicing long hours than the other members.

Blake improves a lot after the training, he then joins the NBA draft. The coach from Houston Rockets decided to give Blake a chance and Blake sign the contract with his first NBA team. At first, he did not have much chance in playing for first team since there are lots of skilful player in the team, the competition is high, but he kept on training very hard in the team. His performance getting improves in every match. His hard work then notice by his coach. His coach gave him an opportunity to play in a NBA match.

In the match, he did not let himself and coach disappointed as he score many marks and make his team won in the match. He then been noticed by the media and reported about his story and said he is the new shining star in NBA for Asian. Finally, all of his hard work paid off. He didn’t disappoint everyone and became a basketball star in America.

1. Halo EffectMeaning- Impression of a person influences how we feel and think about his or her

character. - Essentially, your overall impression of a person ("He is handsome!") impacts your

evaluations of that person's specific traits ("He is also smart!").

Example?- Since people perceive Blake as talented

and good looking, people also tend to see he as popular skilful player.

2. StereotypeMeaning- Stereotypes are often created about people of

specific cultures or races.

Example?

- Blake was look down by other players due to his height and his identity as an Asian.

3. Hostile Aggression Definition- Any form of behaviour directed toward the goal of harming

of injuring another live being who is motivated to avoid such treatment” (Baron & Richardson, 1994).  

- From sport view’s the main aim is to cause harm or injury to your opponent.

How?- Social and Cultural Factors

- Example: As he was the only Asian in his team, Blake got attack and push by other players in every practice games.

4. Self-Efficacy Definition- The belief in one’s capabilities to organize and execute the courses

of action required to manage prospective situations.

Example?- Blake took the aggression

as challenged, motivated himself to be successful. Thus, he train harder and paid more effort than other by practicing long hours.

5. Social Facilitation Definition- Occurs when people are performing in the

presence of others yet their individual contributions can be identified

Example?- Blake kept on training very hard in the team. His

performance getting improves in every match. Then, his coach noticed his improved and gave him a chance to play in a NBA match.
