Status Updates are non-‐stop and relevant to your loca=on.
LocaAon: Smartphones know where you are through GPS, 3G, and Wi-‐Fi Geolocated status and photo updates, loca=on based checkins
Hashtags (Ex: #OccupyWallStreet) allow you to create a topic or trend for people to follow, these have become very popular.
Two interes=ng cases for mobile social media
#OccupyWallStreet
From a single hashtag, created a global protest movement, from New York to Spain -‐ efforts coordinated through social media
#SmartBEP

• People monitored a website, Facebook, and a TwiLer hashtag (#SmartBEP) to get clues for an Amazing Race to win VIP =ckets.
• Clues guided racers to a venue, where a lookalike of the Black Eyed Peas presented them with =ckets.
• Most par=cipants followed the clues on mobile so they could get to the venue on =me.
