RANDY PAUSCH
Really achieving your childhood dreams
The Last Lecture:
RANDY PAUSCH
Randy, dying of pancreatic cancer, gave
his speech properly titled “The Last Lecture”
which has affected many lives through the upbeat storytelling of his childhood dreams.
Engaging the Audience
In his introduction, he captured the audience by telling them his grim situation. But despite that, he was very upbeat assuring the audience not to feel bad for him.
Engaging the Audience
He kept the audience engaged through telling different stories all throughout his life that would apply and reinforce his ideas. He also makes many jokes (some are somewhat dark) that keep the audience laughing.
The “TED” Commandments
Of the “TED” Commandments, he uses four and eight the most. All throughout the hour and fifteen minute speech Randy is constantly keeping the audience entertained with story after story. These stories not only help make his point but also keep people laughing.
Dynamism
In terms of dynamism, I believe randy deserves a 5/5. No question. He did push-ups.
Improving Dynamism
There really wasn’t any room for improvement. He was on the floor doing push-ups. He was moving around as he was talking. He brought his wife up to sing her happy birthday.

Tips for the Class
Make sure you tell a story. It can help to explain, relate to, and emphasize your subject.
Also try and look at things from different perspectives or in a unique way.
