10 THINGS I’V E LEARNED ABOUT LAW PARK
1. THIS SITE IS SPECIFICALLY USED FOR THE SKI TEAM BECAUSE OF THE DEPTH OF WATER RELATIVE TO THE DISTANCE FROM SHORE.
2. FROM A FISHERIES PERSPECTIVE, THE WATERS ALONG THE PARK ARE AN IMPORTANT AND UNIQUE HABITAT FOR FULL LIFE CYCLE OF FISH IN LAKE MONONA.
3. DEBRIS AND MUCK WILL LIKELY ACCUMULATE ALONG ANY ARTIFICIAL STRUCTURES ALONG THE PARK LAKE FRONTAGE.
4. A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF DOWNTOWN URBAN WATERSHED SPILLS DIRECTLY IN THE LAKE WITHIN THE LAW PARK LAKE FRONT AREA.
5. TREATING STORMWATER BY UPLAND DEVICES WILL REQUIRE CREATIVITY, LARGE LAND AREA, OR BOTH.
6. THE PREFERENCE BY THE DNR IS TO MAINTAIN THE CONDITION OF SHORELINE AS A RIP RAP REVETMENT.
7. THE RAILROAD REQUIRES 23’ MIN CLEARANCE AS MEASURED FROM THE TOP OF RAILS. IT IS USED 6-8 TIMES/DAY. NO SPECIFIC PLAN FOR IT BEING ANYTHING BUT A FREIGHT RAIL.
8. THE LOCATION OF THE BOAT LAUNCH IS QUESTIONABLE.
9. THE PARK LAND IS COMPLETELY FILL IN LAKEBED.
10. THE PARK MUST BETTER CONNECT TO DOWNTOWN & THE COMMUNITY.
