    MISSION STATEMENT

    It is the mission of Providence Elementary School to provide a

    high quality education for each student and an optimum

    learning environment that will aid in the development of the

    total child through a cooperative effort among home, school

    and the community.

    The student body is comprised of students K through 5th

    grade. Providence is ethnically, culturally and economically

    diverse and reflects our local community.

    Pirate Positive Behavior Support Plan

    Purpose:

    This Positive Behavior Support Plan is designed to help create a climate ofacademic excellence, respect, safety and cooperation. This plan is based on

    ten principles of positive behavior support. The faculty and staff believe

    these principles will help foster an optimal learning environment for our

    students. The guiding principles are as follows:

    Emphasize academic achievement

    Implement a system of school-wide, targeted early and targeted

    intensive interventions

    Clear expectations for student behavior Clear and consistent strategies for teaching appropriate behavior

    Clear and consistent strategies for encouraging appropriate behavior

    Clear and consistent consequences that discourage inappropriate

    behavior

    Listen to students

    Clearly designed methods for collecting data, evaluating and monitoring

    student behavioral and academic outcomes

    Clear plans and strategies for communicating the characteristics and

    philosophy of the PBS plan to parents and students Utilize developmentally and culturally appropriate interventions

    School-Wide Positive Behavior Support Plan

    Implementation Plan

    This plan is designed to implement the school-wide positive support plan inthe most efficient manner at Providence Elementary. Each topic is clearly

    defined and support materials are provided. Teaching responsibilities are

    assigned to the most appropriate faculty and staff members. Our specific

    goals are:

    Teach classroom expectations and school-wide rules

    Introduce the Pioneer Four and provide examples for each expectation

    Be respectful:Use inside voice

    Treat others the way you want to be treated

    Be a good listener by acknowledging others ideas and

    differences

    Be responsible:

    Complete assignments on time

    Follow procedures

    Be on time

    Be a Learner:

    Be an active participant and a role model for othersGive your best

    Be prepared-bring appropriate classroom materials

    Keep your hands, feet, and other objects to yourself

    BREAKFAST ROUTINES AND EXPECTATIONS

    BREAKFAST BEGINS AT 7:30

    Students who are walkers or car riders that arrive before 7:30 and need to

    eat breakfast must wait for instructions.

    Bus riders who need to eat breakfast must exit the bus and go directly to

    the cafeteria or wait for instructions

    Students must put book bags or backpacks on the floor in front of their

    grade level assigned table

    Students should Pirate walk to the serving line

    Students should line up at the cash register, enter ID number and wait until

    the cashier has acknowledged them

    Using two hands to carry the tray, respectfully and safely walk to a seat at

    the appropriate grade level

    AT THE TABLE

    Sit with both feet under the table

    Sit facing your table

    Talk quietly to people at your table

    When signaled, finish eating

    If you forget something, raise your hand

    Stay in your seat

    Eat and touch only your food

    Mind your manners at all times

    When completely finished with your breakfast, clean your area

    Sit in your seat until dismissed by an adult

    RESTROOM EXPECTATIONS

    This is a general outline of what the restroom procedures should look like. In orderto keep our restrooms clean and promote responsible restroom behavior; we need to

    teach and practice procedures/routines before sending students in a group or

    individually.

    Teachers should determine their own classroom routines and expectations as to

    how and when students will ask to use the restroom as well as exit and enter the

    classroom.

    Due to inadequate spotting, penny drops, and sitting on the bars are not

    No balls or other playground equipment may be used in the pea

    gravel area

    Bring a list of students ID numbers if needed

    Pre-correct students about routines Arrive at the cafeteria on time

    the lunch line

    Enter the cafeteria in a line

    Get in the lunch line and wait respectfully

    Enter your pin number or have money ready to give to the cashier

    Pirate Walk in line out to the playground (Silence in hallway is required)

    BASIC EXPECTATIONS WHILE AT RECESS

    Students must remain on playground

    Playground equipment is provided by the school and should be used

    appropriately, personal equipment is to be left at home

    All equipment is to be shared and used by all students

    Playing near the building where classrooms are located is prohibited

    Contact sports or activities, acrobatics, karate kicking, rough play, keep

    away games, tackle football, chase and pulling clothing are considered

    dangerous and are not permitted

    Animals on school grounds should be reported to the staff on duty

    immediately.

    Do not jump off the equipment (i.e. platforms)

    Go up the ladders and down the slides face forward-sitting

    Leave rocks, woodchips, sticks and snow on the ground

    Keep hands, feet and all other objects to yourself

    Wait your turn patiently (leave a space between you and the person standing

    next to you)

    Please do not stand on top of equipment railing

    Report any damaged or broken equipment immediately to any adult on duty.

    Do not use the broken equipment!

    Report broken glass and any other materials that should not be on the

    playground use the equipment

    Ask an adult before chasing any balls outside of play area

    All students should stay within view of the playground supervisor

    SWINGS

    Four-square, hopscotch, basketball, tetherball, and soccer games will be

    played in areas that have been designated for these uses

    Students should remain outside at recess except in cases of emergency

    and/or with approval from the adult in charge

    All equipment use will be on a "share and turns" basis

    Follow rules taught in class for games and equipment Use all equipment properly

    P .E. classes have priority

    Line up as soon as you hear or see the teacher
