Proverbs 23:29 Who hath woe? who hath sorrow? who hath contentions? who hath babbling? who hath wounds without cause? who hath redness of eyes? 30 They that tarry long at the wine; they that go to seek mixed wine.

The end results of drinking and drugging are so very undesirable; what is the attraction?

Sorrow and woe People drink to forget their troubles, and then sober up to

find their troubles are multiplied.

Sorrow and woe Contentions

So many fights occur when people are drinking.

Domestic abuse

Bar fights

Friends hurt one another.

Being drunk loosens your tongue and takes away your self-control.

(TLB) 31 Don’t let the sparkle and the smooth taste of strong wine deceive you. 32 For in the end it bites like a poisonous serpent; it stings like an adder.

People with hangovers feel so bad, it’s as if they have been bit and poisoned by a snake.

(TLB) 33 You will see hallucinations and have delirium tremens, and you will say foolish, silly things that would embarrass you no end when sober. 34 You will stagger like a sailor tossed at sea, clinging to a swaying mast. 35 And afterwards you will say, "I didn’t even know it when they beat me up.... Let’s go and have another drink!"

There are no advantages to drunkenness.

Ephesians 5 17 Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the Will of the Lord is. 18 And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;

We have seen the harm of being under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

Evident! But to be fully under the influence of God’s

Holy Spirit is such a blessing.

He produces in us the fruit of His Spirit.

1 Thessalonians 5 6 Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober. 7 For they that sleep, sleep in the night; and they that be drunken, are drunken in the night. 8 But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation. 9 For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ.

Let us be children of the day.

Do nothing for which you want the cover of darkness.

Live only in a manner for which you can be truly thankful unto The Lord.
