Along with her husband, Brian, Jackie was one of the founding members of our

club and was an active committee member in the first few years of the club.

Jackie and Brian had been actively involved in dog showing in the UK before

moving to Australia and they had exhibited Old English Sheepdogs and Rottwei-

lers.

When they moved to Australia they continued with the Rottweilers and also

Shiba Inus until they decided to downsize ti a smaller breed of dog. They had 2

Chihuahuas when they fell in love with the Griffons.

They got their first Griffon, a rough red boy from Shane Thomas’ Sibermoon

Kennels and Jackie named him Doats because she said she doted on him. They

then got a smooth red bitch, called Dora, also from Shane, to keep Doats com-

pany.

Later they also got another smooth red bitch from Michelle Parker Brien, Balli-

ol, called Ruby.

They did not show often because Brian was heavily involved in soccer coaching but they loved their Griffons and attended

shows whenever they were able.

About 2 years ago they moved to the Central Coast to be closer to their family due to health issues and Ruby was returned

and now lives with Jannelle Tremenheere. They were heart broken about this and still regularly visited her at dogs shows to

get a cuddle .

They last attended the Hillsborough shows in September 2013 and it was shortly after that date that Jackie was diagnosed

with the very aggressive cancer that was to take her life at the beginning of 2014.

Jackie was a true lady, she was charming, happy, positive, young at heart and she loved her dogs. She had a beautiful tattoo

of a purple rose on her wrist that she was very proud of.

Her sudden loss is a cause of great sadness to all of those who knew her and to her husband of 54 years, Brian and her chil-

dren, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

We dedicate this show to the memory of Jackie McDonald.

First I would like to thank the Griffon Club for inviting me to

judge in your beautiful country.

My name is Jose Zijlmans and I live with my two daughters and

3 dogs in Holland near the German border.

I have been a dog lover all my life and got my first show dogs in

the late 70’s, these were Afghans. I the beginning of the 80’s I

got my first Lhasa. I bred several Champions and I am still and

active Lhasa breeder, Although not too much. The first breed I

was allowed to judge was the Lhasa, in 1990, when I passed my exam.

About 2 years ago I passed my exam for the Griffon, and I judged them a several small

shows. In Holland they are judged as 3 separate breeds: The Griffon Bruxellois (Red

Rough), The Griffon Belge ( Black & Black & Tan Rough) and The Petit Brabacon

(smooth) so in fact you have to pass 3 exams to get the breed.

I am very much looking forward and honoured to judge the breed in Australia. I wish

everyone a nice day… I am sure I will.
