Protos® 3400 (X)

This device will help you make considerable savings. The perfectly designed Protos® 3400 (X) measuring system is based on a modular hardware and software concept for liquid analy-sis and offers flexible solutions precisely tailored to the measuring task. It is also possible to easily measure several process variables such as pH/Cond, pH/pH, Cond/Oxy etc. with the appropriate con-figuration. Similar to a PC, the de-vice which is fitted with a total of 3 slots can be simply retrofitted or modified at any time.

With all these advantages, the Protos® 3400 (X) offers a previ-ously unknown level of function-ality and reliability, and with an extraordinarily high level of user comfort. A razor-sharp display guarantees superb legibility in the most diverse of light con-ditions. Also the integrated SMARTMEDIA card allows for the trouble-free saving of confi g-urations, software updates, and measurement data.

SMART MEDIA ,

Everything on a cardThe SMART MEDIA card (meas-uring only 4.5 by 3.7 cm and only 1 mm thick) is an extremely com-pact, very widely used memory expansion medium available to the Protos® system. The SMART-MEDIA card can be connected via the very inexpensive, commercially available adapter to RS 232 C, USB etc. or directly via a PCMCIA adapter to any PC.

For software updates and software functions– Contains the complete Protos®

software– Software functions can be

installed at a later date and disconnected via transaction numbers (TAN)

– Software updates to keep Protos® upgraded with the latest software – also on site

For parameters and the recording of data– 5 parameter sets can be filed

and loaded into the device– A parameter set contains all pa-

rameter data, facilitating rapid exchange and speedy complete parameter setting. Simple return to factory settings .

– Almost unlimited expansion of the measurement recorder

– Parameter sets can be trans-ferred from one device to an-other. This removes the need for the tiresome repetition of inputting parameters.

– The device parameters can be completely saved on a SMART MEDIA card and then archived directly or on a PC

– Extended logbook– Electronic Records and Elec-

tronic Signatures in accordance with the FDA 21 CFR Regula-tion, Part 11

SMARTMEDIA is a registered trademark of the Toshiba Corp. Japan

Simple operation: Simply insert the SMARTMEDIA card into the small slot on the rear of the front door.

The functions ,

Progress in perfectionIn addition to excellent features such as the universally used VariPower® 20 to 265 V AC/DC power supply, the time and event controlled 2-channel measure-ment re corder and the Sensocheck® sensor monitoring with sensor network diagram, the Protos® 3400 system can be fur-ther expanded with pioneering functions such as:

1. Early alarm detection with the KI recorder The KI recorder follows the course of the process and re-leases a message in the event of abnormalities. The monitor-ing is always carried out for the primary measured variable, e.g. pH or conductivity and par-allel to that for the tempera-ture. The visualization is graphi-cal with process and limit value variation for both variables.

2. Checking of batch processes using the KI recorder The KI recorder records the course of a batch (self-teaching function).

All further batches are then monitored for deviations from the saved course.

Sensor network diagram for pH measurementGraphical representation of the current sensor parameters on the display in a network dia gram– with slope, zero point, refe rence

impedance, glass im pedance, response time, calibration timer, sensorwear.

ServiceScope® monitors whether the pH in put sig nal lies within the input control range. Moreover, the representa-tion of the noise level over the time allows the distinction to be made between individual disturb-ances, periodic and broadband disturbances which is helpful for troubleshooting. In this way, it is possible to check whether regu-larly recurring disturbances, e.g. large consumers , which are regu-larly switched on or off can be simply detected. An error message is generated if the noise level ex-ceeds the failure limit.

Modules ,

The modulesUniversally interchangeableVarious user-defined plug-in measuring modules for measure-ment and control functions can be combined depending on the measuring task. They also facili-tate subsequent trouble-free expansion or modification.

Communication modules for functional expansions. In addition to the OUT module for the expan-sion of the output options already available as standard, other mod-ules are available, including mod-ules for PROFIBUS and FOUNDA-TION Fieldbus.

Combined with the PHU or FIU measuring and control module , Unical® 9000 (X) / Uniclean® 900 (X) and a remote calibration probe such as Ceramat® WA 150 or SensoGate® WA 130, the Protos® 3400 (X) is a fully automatic remote- controlled calibration and cleaning system.

If necessary, it can also record several measurement parameters in any combination with one device; pH/pH, Cond/Cond etc. or e.g. simultaneous pH and conductivity measurement.

Combined evaluation – i.e. the calculation of several measuring parameters e.g. for differential measurement or quasi-redundant measuring systems. Up to 3 meas-uring modules can be combined.

Plug & Play – the modules are sim-ply clicked into place in the slots provided, in any order. The mod-ules are automatically recognized. Very straightforward retrofitting or modification; hot-swap tech-nology.

Control module for convenient PID control. Analog and di gital outputs as well as limit value-monitoring.

Protos® 3400 (X)

ProgaLog , ® 3000

The new PC software for offline parameterization and documenta-tion for Protos® process analyzers.

ProgaLog® 3000 is a PC-based tool for exceptionally easy para m-eterization of a Protos® process analysis system. It allows for com-prehensive parameterization of basic as well as multi-channel Protos® analyzers and, far beyond these, even of complete Unical® / Uniclean® systems. That covers all steps in a full-scale program for a fully automatic pH measuring system, including cleaning, auto-matic calibration and control of retractable fittings. In spite of its extensive parameterization capability, ProgaLog® is well- structured and easy to handle.

Comfortable operationExplorer-style display of the device configuration to keep track of and set up hardware options in self-explanatory fashion.– graphical user interface lists pa-

rameters and parameterization values in a table view

– uses familiar terms from the language selected for the Protos® measuring system

– program interface in German or English language

– Protos® hardware configuration is entered manually or read out from a stored configuration.

Value ranges of parameters, their interdependencies and im-plications of divergent hard- and software versions are observed

– pictorial representation of indi-vidual modules, true to the de-tail, down to the clamp terminal connections

– intuitive operation – graphic visualization of the

complete cleaning and calibra-tion cycles of a Unical® system, with optional live tracking in a diagram

Simple parameterizationUpon completing the parameter-ization of a Protos® process ana-lysis system on a PC, the para m-eter set can be transferred to the Protos® device with a SMART-MEDIA card. This also allows for “cloning”, i.e. identic ally parame-terizing several Protos® systems, with minimal effort. Of course,

this process can be reversed as well in order to read out an exist-ing Protos® parameterization from a SMARTMEDIA card, and change or document it on a PC. On the PC system, the parameter set can be archived, printed or modified and later retransferred to the Protos® analyzer.

Full and consistent documentationComplete Protos® configuration sets can be converted into Excel or PDF format at the touch of a button, which generates full, con-sistent documentation and allows for easy archiving of data. The printing function also provides a comfortable and simple way to keep paper copies on file. Proga-Log® 3000 works under Windows 2000 and XP. It is easy to install and can be run without adminis-trator privileges.
