The company METALKOV, spol. s.r.o. has earned a remarkable posi-

tion in the fi eld of surface fi nishing of steel structures on the Czech market,

and I am proud to say even on the global industrial market as well, over

25 years of its existence. It is mainly thanks to you, our business partners

and colleagues highly appreciating the quality and reliability of our busi-

ness, which is a commitment for us for the next quarter century. We have

therefore decided to add the two properties – quality and reliability – not

only to the mission and vision of the company but also to a new modern

logo of our brand, which is introduced together with this catalogue and

new website to mark the anniversary of the company.

METALKOV Vlašim will continue being a dynamically developing pri-

vate enterprise, faithful to its business partners, built mainly on the latest

technology, high quality of services, expertise and skills, commercial relia-

bility and business credibility.

It would not be possible to satisfy you, our business partners, with-

out the continuous honest work of my closest colleagues. Without them,

Since its founding in 1990, METALKOV Vlašim has

been specializing in the surface treatment of steel

constructions by blasting and thermal spraying.

By constructing an industrial building, painting fa-

cility and shot blasting chamber in 1997, the com-

pany expanded its activities to include painting

large components. Another expansion of production

premises took place between 2003 and 2005 with the

construction of a new building, overhead cranes and

another painting facility, including drying premises.

The largest investment in company history was

fi nished in 2015 – the construction of a gas emission

incinerator for emissions generated during painting

and construction of the large painting facility includ-

ing volatilization and dispatch facilities. The new

roofed premises with an area of 3,300 m2 include

a washing chamber, a corundum blasting chamber,

a thermal spraying chamber and overhead cranes

with 10 ton load bearing capacity.

The company currently uses a site of 50,000 m2, of

which 7,000 m2 are the covered production premises.

Current technological background and spatial

equipment allow for the surface treatment of over-

sized parts and constructions limited essentially only

by transport options.

Considerable attention is paid to environmental care,

even beyond the mandatory statutory requirements.

We act responsibly to nature

A water area with the size of 2,500 m2 was

built on the company premises in 2007

and two years later, a fallow deer farm was

established as an example of an industrial

enterprise coexisting with the surrounding

nature and an example of landscape ecology

care. Thus, the trophy fallow deer and carp

are an eye-catching variation of the large

industrial complex in the immediate vicinity

of the town of Vlašim and nearby mythical

Blaník Mountain.

BLASTING

• surface pre-treatment by sharp-edged steel

abrasive to clean steel surface from rust, iron

scales and other impurities and to create an

anchor profi le for subsequent thermal spray-

ing or painting;

• surface pre-treatment by blasting stainless

steel with sharp-edged ceramic abrasive –

corundum in order to unify the surface after

welding, to prevent surface contamination with

traces of iron and to create an anchor profi le;

• surface pre-treatment by very fi ne blasting

(sweeping) a fi ner fraction of ceramic abrasive

and lower air pressure to clean and roughen

the surface before applying painting materials

on hot-dip galvanized steel.

When blasting for subsequent surface treatment,

it is always important to determine the surface

purity and roughness.

Upon completing another investment in 2015,

METALKOV Vlašim offers its customers and

business partners a greater capacity and

higher quality services backed by new tech-

nologies. Thus, we are progressively fulfi lling

our goal and mission – to provide our cus-

tomers with the highest quality and meet their

demands, requests and expectations.

THERMAL SPRAYING

• anti-corrosion industrial thermal spraying by

applying metal coating by spraying molten

wire using compressed air (done either with

zinc, aluminium, or zinc-aluminium alloy, the

so called zinacore);

• anti-corrosion decorative thermal spraying by

applying metal coating by spraying molten

wire using compressed air (done with different

coloured metals, e.g. brass, bronze, copper,

etc.).

The type and thickness of the material is chosen

according to the requirements on the life of the

individual steel elements (stated in micrometers).

Unlimited dimensions of products and parts

intended for the thermal spraying is limited only

by transport options.

PAINTING

• industrial painting from basic to multi-layer coating

systems by applying mostly organic painting

materials;

• industrial duplex x-layer painting of already galva-

nized steel components to extend anti-corrosion

protection up to several decades;

• application of special coating systems intended

for the chemical industry.

Unlimited dimensions of products and parts intended

for painting are limited only by transport options.

CORROSION ENGINEERING

• complex designs of anti-corrosion protection system;

• monitoring painting and coating execution;

• inspecting the quality of anti-corrosion protection

of steel parts and structures by destructive and

non-destructive test methods.

PRODUCTION

• custom production of steel parts and construc-

tions (in cooperation with related manufacturing

companies) according to the individual require-

ments and requests of our customers;

• in addition to production – the complex fi nishing

of a commission with a surface treatment – mount-

ing accessories – packaging and shipping to

customers.

GALVANIZATION – COOPERATION

WITH WIEGEL CZ

• anti-corrosion hot-dip coating applied by dipping,

formed by a metallurgical reaction between zinc

and steel (Fe and Zn alloy), protecting hot-dip gal-

vanizing against under-corrosion.

Wide range of uses for the components to a maximum

length of 15 metres.

METALKOV Vlašim applies the latest technology

which is represented by duplex systems, signifi cantly

extending the life of the metallic structures and

components.

Noise barriers – the fi nal customer –

Deutsche Bahn

Surface anti-corrosion treatment of 6,500 parts of noise barriers

for 25 railway bridges on the German railways. The commission

was realized including manufacturing, hot-dip galvanizing and

double-layer duplex painting system.

During 25 years of activities in the fi eld

of surface fi nishing, METALKOV Vlašim

has successfully implemented a number

of signifi cant commissions in the Czech

Republic and abroad

GOLIAT oil platform in the Barents Sea

A special contract on the partial surface anti-corrosion fi nishing

of structures for technologies for the largest, and the world’s

northernmost Norwegian-Italian oil platform, with a diameter of

107 metres and with production of 100,000 barrels of oil per day.

Surface treatment was performed using a zinc

coating layer by spraying (thermal spraying)

and subsequent painting. Even after more than

fi fteen years (at the time of issuing the cata-

logue), the anti-corrosion treated structures are

in the intact and immaculate condition!

For surface fi nishing of this contract,

the duplex system for two different

base layers of zinc was selected – hot-

dip galvanized and thermally sprayed.

This technology was chosen because

of the lengths of steel elements, the

diversity of steel types and profi les of

individual weldments.

Special surface anti-corrosion treatment of inner

and outer coats and other parts of turbine feeders,

implemented over the years on more than 500 water

power plants worldwide.

the world’s largest

cruise ship

Over the past quarter century, prob-

ably the most interesting business

contract was the surface treatments

of 44 large and 10 auxiliary cranes,

operating emergency and rescue

boats on the largest cruise ship in

the world at the time.
