PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE

A women's college is a sanctuary where intellectual, spiritual and cultural advancement

learn to value yourself as a unique individual who is capable of accomplishing set goals.

Academically, professionally and personally, the advantages of women's colleges are

hard to match. A women's college graduate enters the workforce with the confidence and

self-esteem that will carry her forward, no matter what the circumstances or challenges are.

Welcome to Government Girls Degree College, Sargodha Road Faisalabad. It is located

on the main Sargodha Road, adjacent to Punjab Medical College. It has an area of about 32

kanal, with modern, well designed building, set in vast grounds. We are fortunate to have

fully equipped laboratories for science and arts subjects, classrooms and a library.

The college was established in 2012. The environment of the college is friendly and

supportive. The faculty and staff are committed. They take teaching as a passion,

emphasizing on the quality education. They promote academic excellence. Each student is

encouraged and guided to reach the highest standard.

The College is moving towards sustainability. We are committed to improve even further.

ADMISSION CRITERIA

1. The admission schedule for admission in first year will be announced by BISE

Faisalabad and for third year will be decided by GC University Faisalabad.

2. Candidates desiring to seek admission in the college can apply on printed admission

forms, attached to the College prospectus which will be available in the college office.

3. The application form must be duly signed by father of the applicant. The guardian can

sign the application only if the father is deceased/abroad/insane.

4. Candidates desiring to seek admission in F.A must have passed Matric in Arts or

Science, whereas for admission in F.S.c, Matric with Science is compulsion.

5. Candidates desiring to seek admission in B.A. must have passed F.A/F.Sc. Board

Examination.

6. Students who want to study Mathematics at Intermediate or Degree level must have

studied it in the previous class, with at least 60% marks.

7. The attested photocopies of following documents must be attached with application

form:

i. Two copies of Matriculation/Intermediate result

ii. One copy of character certificate issued by Head of the institution last

attended.

iii. One copy of Father/Guardian’s Computerized National Identity Card (NIC).

iv. Four passport size recent photographs.

v. One copy of N.O.C. of Secretary Board other than Faisalabad Board (only for

candidates who passed examination from Board, other than Faisalabad Board)

vi. The students applying in disabled quota must submit medical certificate issued

by Allied/Civil hospital.

8. The Principal has full discretion either to accept or reject any application for

admission without assigning any reason thereof.

9. Students who passed the Board Exams in the current year will have preference for

admission over the students who passed in previous years.

10. If a student seeking admission was previously a student of this college and left the

college without completing the session, cannot apply in the subjects she previously

studied.

SELECTION/CHANGE OF SUBJECTS

Candidates applying for admission must carefully select the subjects from the subject

combination list, given in the prospectus. In case, a student desires to change a subject, she

will have to submit application within two weeks of commencement of new class.

Note: i. Students studying Computer Science will have to pay additional fees of Rs 2400 (Intermediate

level) and Rs 3000 (Degree level).

ii. Admission /Tuition /Registration fees can change in according to Board/University policy

iii. College dues must be submitted in the period, as announced by the Principal. A fee once received is

not refundable. In case a student fails to submit fees in the scheduled period, she will be struck off.

FEE CONCESSION

The students are given concession in fee. Terms and conditions for fee concession are

as follows:

1. The fee concession is made on the tuition fee only.

2. The Principal has the full authority to give full or half concession in tuition

fee.

3. The student desiring fee concession will have to submit application on a plain

paper.

4. Mostly the fee concession is made to the poor and deserving students. Only

10% of the total admitted students. If the number of applicants exceeds,

selection is made on merit.

5. Teacher daughter may be given half fee concession

6. Orphan students applying for fee concession will attach attested copy of death

certificate of the father.

7. Hafiz-i-Quran may have full concession in fee.

8. Application for fee concession must be submitted with the admission form. It

must be attested by Nazim/ Councilor of the residential area of the student

9. Parents/guardian can meet the Principal/administration during visiting hours

only.

10. The college authorities reserve the right to introduce, amend or relax the

college rules.

STUDENTS IDENTITY COLLEGE CARD

1. Identity card is issued to all college students for complete session (Two years).

2. It will be provided to the students within thirty (30) days of their admission in the

college.

3. The identity card is with neck band. The student must wear it in college premises.

Student without College card will have to pay a fine of Rs 15. If lost, new card can be

issued on payment of fine of Rs 50.

4. The student must show her identity card during examination, refunding of library

security, issuance of Result Card/ Provisional Certificate/Degree

STUDENTS UNIFORM

Student must wear proper neat/clean uniform. No student is allowed to enter the college,

without uniform. The detail of the uniform is as follows:

1. White shirt: It must be with high neck and collar. Sleeves of the shirt must be of full

length. Half sleeves shirt is not allowed.

2. White shalwar: It is compulsory. Trouser or tights are not allowed.

3. White dupatta: It must be of the fabric of Shalwar Kameez. It must be of full length

with ribbon attached at the edges. Color of ribbon for each class is displayed on the

students’ notice board. Chiffon dupata is not allowed. (The fabric for the uniform

must be KT, plain, without any design/print.

4. White Hijab/scarf: It is not compulsory.

5. Sweater/Jersey/Coat: It must be simple, plain, without design and black.

6. Shoes: Must be black and flat, without heel.

7. Socks Must be white in summer and black in winter.

8. The students are not allowed to wear any type of jewellery (gold or artificial).

9. During Board /University examination, student must be in uniform.

DISCIPLINARY COMMITTEE

Disciplinary committee comprising of staff and students has been formed. This committee

will help to maintain discipline in the college. The duties and responsibilities of committee

are as follows:

1. To observe that students are regular and punctual in classes.

2. To help the duty officers at Assembly time.

3. To assure that the students are in uniform.

4. To observe that students are not involved in any unlawful activities.

5. To maintain discipline in college functions.

RULES FOR ATTENDENCE

1. Students are required to be regular/ punctual in attending their classes according to the

schedule /time table and late coming shall not be acceptable.

2. Student must have 75% attendance in all the subjects.

3. Repeated or continuous absence will make a student liable to heavy fine or expulsion

from the college.

4. Student shall not leave her lecture room without permission of the respective teacher.

RULES FOR LEAVE

1. The student must apply for leave if she cannot attend the college.

2. Leave application must be written on plain paper. It must have the signature of

Parent/Guardian.

3. It must be submitted in clerical office.

4. Principal will sanction the leave.

5. Student who does not come to college and has not submitted leave application will be

marked absent.

6. Absent students will have to pay fine, which will be collected at the end of session.

7. Leave for more than seven days will be sanctioned only on provision of medical

certificate (by a M.B.B.S. doctor) which must be attached with the application.

8. During house exams, leave will be accepted only on provision of medical certificate

from M.B.B.S. doctor of a Government hospital.

STRUCK OFF AND READMISSION

The students name will be struck off on following conditions:

1. If she is absent from her class/classes for ten consecutive days or ten days randomly

in a month.

2. If she fails to pay the college dues in the prescribed period

3. Names of the struck off students’ names list will be displayed on the Notice Board.

4. Principal will give permission for readmission

5. The student can apply for readmission on plain paper within fifteen days of struck off

date.

6. Readmission fees is Rs.150/.

7. The student will have only one chance of readmission.

COLLEGE LIBRARY

College has a library which is open in College hours. Course books of all the subjects taught

in the college are also available in the library.

1. Students can have the Library cards issued within fifteen days of admission, after

showing the admission slip.

2. Student gets the book issued on her card only. If she uses some other student’s card,

she will have to pay a fine of Rs 50/.

3. Only one book is issued at a time.

4. Book is issued for 15 days only. For extra days there will be a fine of Rs 1/ day.

5. News papers, magazines and reference books are not issued to the students.

6. If the issued book is lost or torn, students have to pay amount four times the actual

price of the book.

7. Student can use the library only in free/spare time.

8. Students are supposed to sit quietly in the library.

9. Students can have the books issued on the following allocated days to different

classes:

Monday: 4th

Year Tuesday: 3rd

year

Wednesday 2nd

year Thursday 1st Year

Books are not issued on Friday and Saturday.

Library security is refunded only when the academic session is over and students have returned library

books and paid all college fines and dues. Security not withdrawn within two years of college leaving will

lapse and stand forfeited. Refund will be made only to the college student and nobody else. Refund will

be made in the month of April.

COLLEGE EXAMMINATION

Schedule of College Examination is as follows:

1. First monthly Test October

2. Mid Term December

3. Second monthly Test January

4. Third monthly Test February

5. Send-up March

Parents/Teachers meeting will be held after December/Midterm Examination.

RULES FOR EXAMMINATION

1. All the students must appear in college examination.

2. Student cannot be absent. In case of absence due to illness, medical certificate must be

provided.

3. Strict action will be taken against students found to be involved using illegal means

to attempt the papers

4. Result cards may be sent to the parents.

OTHER RULES AND REGULATIONS

1. Students must abide by the college rules mentioned in this prospectus, and also

instructions issued by the college authorities from time to time. Any breach in the

regulations may lead to penalty of fine, suspension or expulsion from the college.

2. Attendance in morning assembly is compulsory.

3. Students are not allowed to create any disturbance or take part in any unseemly

activity in or near the college premises.

4. The students are not allowed to indulge in political/sectarian activities. Politics of any

kind is strictly prohibited.

5. Students are strictly prohibited to carry any sort of weapons in the college premises.

6. Keeping and use of narcotics is strictly prohibited.

7. In case, a student causes any sort of damage to the college property, she will be bound

to pay the cost of repair or replacement of the breakage or loss. If the damage or loss

was willful, disciplinary action will be taken against her.

8. Students are not allowed to bring any audio/video aids.

9. Students are not allowed to bring and use mobiles, as notified by the Secretary Higher

Education Government of Punjab, Lahore.

10. Phone calls of the students will not be entertained. Emergency message to the student

can be communicated.

11. Students are not allowed to paste posters, stickers, notices, etc in college premises

without prior permission of the principal.

12. Students are not allowed to wear colored clothes or jewellery in the campus. A

student out of uniform will not be allowed to enter the college.

13. Students are not allowed to stand around the class rooms without any purpose after

the college timings.

14. Students shall cooperate in keeping the college premises/classrooms clean.

15. The students must take care of their belongings themselves. In case of any damage or

loss, the college will not be responsible.

16. No outsider/visitor is allowed to enter the college premises. Parents/guardian can meet

the Principal/administration during visiting hours only.

17. Students shall report a problem or complain of any kind in writing to the college

management.

18. The college authorities reserve the right to introduce, amend or relax the college

rules.

FACILITIES IN THE CAMPUS

1. There is a well equipped library for the staff and students.

2. College has a Computer Science department to facilitate the students to study

computer.

3. College has a dispensary where basic first aid facilities are provided. A lady doctor

visits the college once in a week.

4. College has a canteen to provide refreshment to students and staff.

5. There are play grounds in the college where different sports activities are held.

STUDENTS SCHOLORSHIPS

College students are awarded scholarships on talent and need base. Detail is as

follows:

1. Merit Scholarship:

This is awarded both at Intermediate and degree level. Students

with 60% marks can apply for it. Sanction of scholarship is through Directorate

Colleges.

2. Benevolent fund Scholarship:

It is given to children of Govt. Servants by Benevolent fund

Department Govt. of Punjab. Eligibility criteria is 60% marks

3. PEEF Scholarship:

The Punjab Educational Endowment Fund (PEEF) provides

scholarships to talented and needy students on merit, who fall in one of the following

categories:

i. Orphan Children

ii. Children of government servants in BPS 1 – 4

iii. Children belonging to minority religion

iv. Special Children.

4. Moral Scholarship:

It is given to low income families children. Ministry of Religious

Affairs provides financial assistance for students of the University from Zakat Funds

through District Zakat and Usher.

5. Pakistan Bait ul Mal also awards scholarships for needy and poor students under

child support programme to complete their education.
