Bharati Vidyapeeth, the parent body of Bharati Vidyapeeth(Deemed to be University) was established in May, 1964 by Dr.Patangrao Kadam with the objective of bringing about intellectualawakening and allround development of the people of our countrythrough education.

Bharati Vidyapeeth is now a leading educational institution in thecountry, which has created a history by establishing within a short spanof 51 years or so 180 educational institutions imparting education fromthe pre-primary stage to post graduate stage. Our colleges andinstitutions of higher education impart education in different disciplinesincluding Medicine, Dentistry, Ayurved, Homoeopathy, Nursing, Arts,Science, Commerce, Engineering, Pharmacy, Management, SocialSciences, Law, Environmental Science, Architecture, Hotel Managementand Catering Technology, Physical Education, Computer Science, LibraryScience, Information Technology, Biotechnology & Agriculture,Performing Arts etc.

These educational institutions which have achieved an acclaimedacademic excellence cater to the educational needs of thousands ofstudents coming from different parts of India and also abroad. Ourteaching faculty includes highly qualified, experienced, dedicated andstudent-caring teachers. These educational institutions are located atvarious places viz. Pune, Navi Mumbai, Kolhapur, Solapur, Sangli,Karad, Panchagani, Jawhar and New Delhi. The spectacular successachieved by Vidyapeeth is mainly a creation of unusual foresight,exceptionally dynamic leadership and able guidance of the founder ofVidyapeeth, Dr. Patangrao Kadam. It has been our constant endeavourto impart high quality education and training to our students andtherefore it is no wonder that our institutions have become nationallyknown for their academic excellence. In recognition of the academicmerit achieved by its institutions and potential for development whichthey have, the Department of Human Resource Development,Government of India and the University Grants Commission of Indiahave accorded the status of a deemed to be university to BharatiVidyapeeth with its twenty nine constituent units.

Besides these 180 educational institutions, Bharati Vidyapeethhas also been successfully running a Co-operative Bank, Co-operativeConsumer Stores, Co-operative Poultry, Co-operative Sugar Factory,Co-operative Spinning Mill, Charitable Hospitals and Medical ResearchCentre and the like.

It had been a long standing dream of our founder to get thestatus of a University to Bharati Vidyapeeth. That dream was realisedwhen the Ministry of Human Resource Development (Department ofEducation, Government of India) on the recommendations of theUniversity Grants Commission, New Delhi through their notification No.F.9-15/95-U.3 dated 26th April, 1996 declared a cluster of institutions ofBharati Vidyapeeth at Pune as Deemed to be University.

Thus, there are 29 institutions which are the constituent units ofBharati Vidyapeeh (Deemed to be University).

As is widely known, the Central Govt. had constituted a highpower Task Force consisting of very eminent and experiencedacademicians to evaluate the academic performance of deemeduniversities in the country. The Task Force appreciated the reportsubmitted by the University and also the presentation made by Prof. Dr.Shivajirao Kadam Vice Chancellor. The Task Force noted the University'sexcellent performance with regard to teaching-learning process, research,scientific publications by faculty and their impact and potential, innovativeacademic programmes, enriched infrastructure and recommended to theMinistry of Human Resources Development, Govt. of India to award ‘A’Grade status. The Central Government has accepted therecommendation of the Task Force and awarded ‘A’ Grade status to thisUniversity.

Ours is the only University established under section 3 of theU.G.C. Act having under its umbrella institutions of diverse disciplines ofprofessional, technical and traditional categories such as Medicine,Dentistry, Physical Education, Natural and Physical Sciences, SocialSciences, Commerce, Law and Humanities, Pharmaceutical Sciences,Management Studies, Engineering and Technology. The UGC hasrecognised this University u/s 12 'B' of UGC Act.

This University is a Member of Association of Indian Universities.

This University has been Graded as Catagory-I Deemed to beUniversity by UGC. NIRF Ranking for this University is continiously withintop 100 Universities. This year the University has been ranked by NIRF as66.

YASHWANTRAO MOHITE COLLEGE OF ARTS, SCIENCE AND COMMERCE, PUNE

This College which is a constituent unit of BharatiVidyapeeth (Deemed to be University) is located in ourErandwane campus in the heart of Pune city. It conducts undergraduate and post graduate programmes in various disciplines ofArts, Science, Commerce and Computer Science leading to B.A.,B.Sc., B.Com., B.Lib. and Information Sc., B.Sc. (ComputerScience), M.Sc. (Chemistry), M.Com. and M.A.(Eng) degrees.This College was established in the year 1978 and was earlieraffiliated to University of Pune.

Since it became a constituent unit of Bharati Vidyapeeth(Deemed to be University) in April, 1996, we have modifiedcourse structures and syllabi of these degree programmes andhave updated them keeping in view the objective of increasingemployability and self-employability of the students. Besidesthese degrees, the College also conducts two diplomaprogrammes in Commerce (1) Diploma in Banking and (2)Diploma in Marketing. The College has well qualified,experienced and student oriented faculty who take interest inboth teaching and research. The College is housed in a spaciousbuilding and has well equipped laboratories and well maintainedlibrary and other infrastructural facilities. Limited hostelaccommodation is available for both boys and girls in thecampus. The degrees awarded by this University are recognizedby Government of India, UGC and Government of Maharashtralike those given by the other Statutory Universities.Admission to the College -

Students who desire to seek admission to Junior Collegeshould note the following points.

i) Admission to XI and XII Science & Commerce classes startimmediately after the declaration of the results of X & XIstandard examinations.

ii) XII Science & Commerce classes start from 1st June. iii) There is no internal transfer of XII standard classes unless

a student seeks a special permission from Deputy Directorof Education.

iv) The students passing S.S.C. Examination of MaharashtraState Board have to submit original School LeavingCertificate, Original Marksheet and Xerox copies of both forseeking admission to XI class.

v) Students Passing equivalent examination from other Statesor examinations such as I.C.S.E. / C.B.S.E./ForeignStudents will have to apply through college to the Secretary,Maharashtra State Board, for Eligibility Certificate. They willhave to submit the following documents for getting EligibilityCertificate.

1) Migration Certificate 2) Transfer Certificate 3) Statement ofMarks 4) Attendance/Character Certificate 5) PassingCertificate.

vi) The foreign students applying for any class of JuniorCollege should get approval from Foreign students' Advisorabout their fulfiling rules and regulations.

vii) It will be the responsibility of the students to see thatleaving certificate and final Eligibility Certificate arereceived by the College before the end of the first term.

viii) Repeaters are not admitted in the Junior College.

Education is compulsory for all the students of XI and XII Std. asper HSC Board rule. There is separate criteria to pass for thisproject work.

Commerce Project Work -

Project work and oral examination for commerce subjects arecompulsory for all the students of XI & XII std. For project workoral examination there is separate criteria to pass as per HSCBoard rule.

Health & Physical EducationPhysical training is compulsory for all the students and

every student has to attend the physical training lectures andwritten examination according to respective time-tables. SpecialProvisions made available for the development of theGymnasium section.

MEDIUM OF INSTRUCTION -The medium of instruction to science classes is English.

Students of Commerce Stream can have option to takeinstructions either in English or Marathi.

REFUND OF FEES :

1) Refund of fees will be made strictly as per Governmentrules.

2) Fees will not be refunded after the 14th August as a generalrule.

REFUND OF DEPOSITS :

A student should collect his/her deposits within six months fromthe date of cancellation of his/her admission or within six monthsof completion of his/her course.

HOSTEL ADMISSION :

Students who desire to seek admission to the hostel shouldapply separately on the prescribed form available in the Collegeoffice.

SCHOLARSHIPS & FREESHIPS

Merit Scholarships or Freeships are awarded by the Collegeirrespective of any other scholarships like National Scholarship orState Government Scholarships. Though not eligible as perGovernment rules for the award of any other scholarships meritprize may be awarded in such a case or concession in fees maybe considered.

VARIOUS OTHER SCHOLARSHIPS :

There are other scholarships as Open Merit Scholarships,Govt. of India Loan Scholarships, which are awarded on the basisof the merit of S.S.C. Examination. Deserving and eligiblecandidates are awarded the freeships like B.C., E.B.C., P.T.C.and freeship for freedom fighters' children.

RULES REGARDING GRANT OF TERMS

The minimum conditions required to be fulfilled by the studentsin order to qualify for the grant of terms for admission to the finalexamination are given below.

a) Attendance : Every student must attend at least 75%of the lectures held in two terms separately.

b) Tutorials & Journals : Every student must complete theprescribed number of tutorials and practicals.

LIBRARY :The college has a very rich library for the concerned faculties.

Needy and deserving students are given the books under theBook Bank Scheme.EARN & LEARN SCHEME :

Poor and meritorious students are given financial assistanceunder this scheme.RULES OF DISCIPLINE1) Students should be regular and punctual in attending

classes, tutorials and submission of the term work invarious subjects, terms shall not be granted and a studentshall not be certified for examination if his progress, conductand attendance is not satisfactory. Minimum 75%attendance is required.

2) Students, if found indulging in anti-national activities,contrary to the provisions of Acts and Laws enforced byGovernment will be liable to be expelled from the collegewithout any notice by the Principal of the college.

3) Bicycles, scooters and vehicles should be parked only inthe areas provided for the purpose. The institute accepts noresponsibility for their safe custody. Vehicles lodgedelsewhere may be confiscated.

4) Any changes in the address of the student must beintimated by him in writing to the college office immediately.

5) Students must use aprons and uniforms of prescribedpattern while working in Laboratories and class rooms.

6) A student must carry smart card and Identity Card signed bythe Principal and produce the same whenever asked by theCollege Authorities. Without Smart Card and Identity Cardstudents will not be allowed to enter the college premisesand will be strictly dealt with.

7) A student is expected to read the notices put up on thenotice board of the college. The college accepts noresponsibility for loss of any advantage by a student due tohis failure to read the notice in time.

8) In case a student requires to remain absent for somereasons, he will be required to take the prior permission ofthe Principal.

9) If any of the statement made in application form or anyinformation supplied by the student in connection withhis/her admission is later on, at any time found to be falseor incorrect his/her admission will be cancelled, feesforfeited and he/she be expelled from the college by thePrincipal and prosecuted by Govt., if necessary.

10) A student shall not go to the Press or any other publicitymedia without the permission of the Principal

11) Any damage to the college property, apparatus, furniture,equipment, library books, building etc. must be paid forimmediately by the students.

12) Student must attend Social and National events organisedby the college such as 26th January, 10th May and 15thAugust and all other declared national celebrations.

13) A student will be bound by the rules and regulations framedby the college from time to time.

14) No student shall be allowed to appear for the UniversityBoard examination unless he/she has paid all his/her duesand completed his/her journals and work allotted

15) There are no activities like Annual Social and GeneralElections.

16) Principal reserves the right to prescribe from time to timeany rule(s) of discipline, and accordingly takes necessarydisciplinary action.
