ANNADA COLLEGE prospectus

Annada College, Hazaribag is the only

Linguistic Minority College of Jharkhand.

The College was established in the year

1979 to commemorate the centenary

celebration of Annada High School.

Started with less than 50 students, the

college is now having more than 6000

students on its roll. The campus is situated in the heart of the town with a vast and beautiful

academic block, a separate administrative block, science laboratories, well equipped

library and all other modern facilities.

The college is managed by a Managing Committee consisting of eminent personalities of

Bengali community. It was accorded the linguistic minority status in the year 1989.

Impressed with excellent academic environment, discipline and infrastructure of the

college, the State Govt. granted it the Permanent Affiliation upto Honours level in the

faculties of Science/Arts/Commerce from the session 1991-92. The college is duly

registered u/s 2(f) & 12-B of the U.G.C. Act 1956. It is also the first college of Vinoba Bhave

University, Hazaribag to be Re-accredited by NAAC.

The college was established with a view to imparting quality education to the poor and the

downtrodden students of the North Chotanagpur region. It is working incessantly to

nurture and chisel the talent of the students without any distinction.

Vision

Introducing vocational courses at Annada College was the dream of Late Dr. P.S.

Mukherjee, the former Secretary of the College. Keeping his dream in mind, the Managing

Committee introduced the vocational courses in Biotechnology & Computer Applications

The aim is not only focused on imparting subject

knowledge and skills, but also to mould the student with

better conduct and character committed to the societal

needs and national development.

Co- Curricular Activities

The college has paid special attention to the growth of personality of the students. It offers

a number of opportunities to its students so that they may train themselves to succeed in

life. Interested students may participate in sports, NCC, NSS, Literary & Cultural activities.

Infrastructure

The departments of Business Administration, Biotechnology and Computer Application

have well qualified faculty members. Apart from them, faculty members of other

universities/organizations are invited regularly to deliver special lectures/conduct theory

and practical classes.

All the departments have well equipped library, seminar rooms and state of art

laboratories. The Department of Business Administration is enriched with academic

magazines. The computer laboratory has more than 80 computer systems with the latest

configuration and multimedia projectors. All the departments have smart classrooms

On The Job Training

The syllabus of the courses include compulsory on the job training programme. The

college has arranged for on-the-job training for the students in the reputed and well

established organizations such as DVC, NTPC, State Bank of India, BSNL, CCL, MSME

Kolkata, HCL and many more.


Discipline

Every student is required to attend at least 75% of the total lectures/tutorials/practical,

except for a good reason for which due leave should be obtained. Applications for leave on

medical grounds, countersigned by a parent and duly supported by a medical certificate,

must be submitted within a week of return to college.

Annada College is a zone of “Zero Tolerance” in respect of both ragging and sexual

harassment. Both are forms of serious crime. In every instance of these offences, the

students involved will be punished severely.

Academic Programmes

The primary aim of Annada College is long term academic programme leading to a Degree

Certification. Currently, the college conducts the following three years vocational degree

programme:

A) Bachelor of Business Administration

B) Biotechnology

C) Bachelor of Computer Application


BACHELOR OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION

It is a three year vocational degree program. This

program aims at developing managerial skills

through an appropriate blend of business and

general education. The program assists the students

in understanding and developing the unique

leadership qualities required for successfully

managing business functions, an organizational unit

or enterprise. It is many a times referred to as the

golden passport as it prepares students for executive

career in business and other organizations.

Number of Seats

The total no. of seats in BBA is 60 (sixty) out of which

05 (five) seats are reserved for NRI students.

Reservation of seats for SC/ST/OBC will be followed

as per the rules and regulations of Vinoba Bhave

University, Hazaribag.

Fee Structure

1. Rs. 12,000/- (Twelve Thousand) only per semester

(Excluding Examination and registration fees)

2. US $ 500 (Five Hundred) per semester

Selection Procedure

Eligibility for admission to Semester I in Bachelor of Business Administration is

I.A./I.Sc./I.Com./+2 of any discipline having a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate.

The admission will be made entirely on the basis of the performance of the candidate at

the entrance test followed by interview to be conducted by the college. Entrance will be of

60 minutes duration and will comprise of multiple choice/objective type questions in the

following sections:

Mathematics: 30 Marks

(Class 10th Level as per CBSE Syllabus)

General English: 20 Marks

Parts of speech, Tense, SV Agreement,

BIOTECHNOLOGY

It is a three year vocational degree program. The

Biotechnology course has the sole aim to impart skill-

based intensive training through classroom teaching,

interactive discussions, acquisition of knowledge of

handling sophisticated equipment and data

storage/analysis, all of which will pave the way for job

avenues in areas of agriculture, environment,

pharmaceuticals, bioinformatics, biofuel and other

biotech industries.

BACHELOR OF COMPUTER APPLICATIONS

Bachelor of Computer Application is a 3-year Degree programme making you a

professional Graduate in Software Application and

development. The students who want to pursue

education in IT Software should be able to look at

any problem analytically and should be interested

in cracking the problem logically. This means the

students should have basic inclination towards

analytical and logical thinking and should be able

to develop it further to be successful in this field.

The total no. of seats in BCA is 50 (fifty) out of which 05 (five) seats are reserved for NRI
