TRAFFIC OFFICER’S DIPLOMA COURSE

Permanent employment by a Provincial/Local Authority as a Traffic Officer.
Minimum educational qualification of Grade 10 or equivalent.
At least a Code B driving licence.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Learners selected to participate in the Traffic Officer’s Diploma Course must arrange their own accommodation. The Traffic Training College will arrange accommodation for Road Traffic Inspectorate learners, except thosefrom RTI Pietermaritzburg. A comprehensive list of accommodationavailable in Pietermaritzburg, can be found on page 18
All learners are required to be dressed in full uniform from the first day of the course
All learners, other than those from the Road Traffic Inspectorate, are required to produce the following ammunition at the commencement of the course:
* 350 rounds new 9mm * 25 rounds 12 bore shotgun
The cost of ammunition is not included in the course fee
Learners may be required toundergo instructional trainingafter hours and over selected weekends at the discretion ofthe Commander: Training and Advice

VEHICLE EXAMINER’S COURSE

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS• Minimum educational qualification of Grade 10 or equivalent
• The applicant must be permanently employed by either a Local Authorityor Private Test Station
• In possession of applicable driving licences to be graded either as a -
GRADE A: code EC and code A driving licence, or
GRADE B: code EB and A driving licence

IMPORTANT INFORMATION
The incumbent cannot be graded on the strength of a learner’s licence
The training provided by the College will cover all aspects of an A graderegistration. Applicants who do not have the required codes of drivinglicences to be graded as an A grade examiner, will have to produce avalid learners licence in respect of a code EC in order to be given the tuition required for upgrading to A status once he/she has obtained the relevant driving licence
Without the abovementioned training the applicant will have to undergo another full course should he/she wish to upgrade his/her status as a registered examiner

The training provided by the College will cover only aspects of aspecific grade of registration applied for by the applicant or in respect of the grades for which the applicant is in possessionof the required driving licences
The Driving Licence Examiners Course is progressive of nature and consists of 7 different modules. An applicant needs to progress from the first module to the desired grading. Any proof of an existing gradingmust be attached to the application to attend such course

An authorised officer is personally responsible for the certification of photocopies of original documents
Certifications should be done in red ink on the face of the document
Closing dates for applications are to be strictly adhered to
The Training College is to be advised of any cancellations at least 14 days prior to the commencement of a course. The administration reserves the right to demand payment of the course fees where thecancellation of nominations to attend a course are submitted at short notice or where a candidate does not report for a particular course

♣ It is anticipated that a revised fee structure will be introduced in respect of all courses from 30 June 2005. Further particulars will be made available once the new fees have been approved.
♣ Cheques are preferred and are to made out in favour of : KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Government - Transport.
♣ To facilitate the processing of applications to register as an authorised officer in terms of the Road Traffic Act 29/89, each successful learner is required to pay R105.00. This payment is a separate fee and is required by the College prior to departure at the end of the course.
