Pros For Teachers-Presentations -Communication with Parents and Students (Online Grading, Email, Rubrics, ect…)-Online testing, Pre-assessments(Pulliam 2005,pg29)
Pros For Students-Share and Gather info (Wikis,Blogs,etc…)-Projects-Info all in one place-Learn easier (Tucker 2010,Pg.38)
CONS FOR THE INTERNET
Teachers Students
Cons For Teachers-Distractions-If the internet crashes (lose everything)-Might not work( videos, sounds, etc…)-Problems(waste class time)-Liability
Cons For Students-Unreliable internet sites (Acikaln 2009,pg.305-320)-Distracting-Sites Unsafe-Cyber bullying/Sexual Predators (Peters 2002,pg 42)
DEBATEIs the Internet a good source in the class room?
Ideas to Fix the Cons-Ideas?-Block Internet sites that are not educational ( most schools are)-Make sure a teacher is with students that are using the internet at all times-Send permission slips home -Inform parents about upcoming projects where the students might need to use the internet
