My music magazine will be indie because this is a growing industry which many people are listening to. This is therefore new music feel using this genre will generate more readers because there is no established indie magazines at the moment and it is a market I would like to get into. The most important elements of this magazine is sticking to the genre and not varying it. This is because if people buy a indie magazine it should be completely what they are buying. Moreover it is very important that the pictures on the front draw you in and are big bold and have mise en scene relative to the genre. I feel using Indie will create unique and artistic photos which will also allow me to use a subtle layout which is simplistic yet professional and which will draw people in. I will experiment with backgrounds and take many images for my photo-shoot so my magazine is completely relevant to the theme and genre

Genre

I will publish my magazine monthly. I will do this so that people look forward to the next release and are more obliged to subscribe as they have waited a long time for the next edition. They will therefore pay a monthly fee to have it delivered on the day. I will also have a prestige brand image because my magazine will be more sought after and rare therefore people will want it more. Because of the magazine not having a frequent release there will be more content in it and include more artists. The content will be of the best quality and my magazine will be renowned for being class and being at the top for quality. There will be many feature articles and a lot of pages to make up with the long release date. My magazines pages each edition will vary on each ones that my magazine is not the same and keeps people reading and coming back.

Frequency

The readers of my magazine will be people who like indie and like the genre. This is likely to be predominately people between 15-30 as they will have a established music taste and want to read about who they like and listen too. People of younger ages are less likely to like this music as it is different and slightly obscure. People will benefit through reading my magazine because it will have competitions and give-aways such as downloadable codes and give information about competitions online. Every month there will be a new competition or give away which will draw people in to read it. I will do this because my magazine is very prestige and classy therefore it needs to give back to the customers.

Target audience

The magazines which are most similar to mine is Fader, this is because they will look similar and have roughly the same music genre. However I feel my main competition will be Q and NME because they are the most well known music magazines however I would like to be up there competing with them for the top and have the highest market share. These magazines are important because they have a variation of music genres therefore appealing to more people. However I feel these magazines lack an identity and a loyal fan base. Therefore the people that buy my magazine will always be returning because they know the editions monthly will be to their taste.

Similar magazines

The features in my magazine will be things such as interviews and reviews. There will be interactive things such as quizzes and things where you can physically write on the magazine. There will also be other articles about other artists who are not the cover stories. There will also be a feature called questions for cash where people can enter competitions through the magazine by sending off their answers. All of my magazines will contain social media links and subscriptions. My social media pages will contain competition links and will give hints about the magazine coming up to its release. This is so that people are interested and more likely to subscribe as the suspense of the release is building up and they want the magazine on the day.

Content

So far I have the idea to call my magazine Saint,flex,intervention,standard,modest,subtract,curve,civil,salvation,issue. It will be indie and the front cover will be an array of background colours. This will show difference and obscurity which the music genre presents. There will be Chinese symbols underneath the name. My feature article will include a completely new artist. All my photos will be studio taken and have different backgrounds to show the mood. I will include things such as instruments. I feel a dark purple will work for my magazine because its quite a dark colour with a likeable yet evil colour.

Ideas

I want my magazine to be fun yet formal and educational at the same time. It will contain quirky quotes of the artists which people have never heard of before. There will be certain times where it is very informal but times when it is funny and interacts the readers with quizzes and cross words. The main value of my magazine will be entertaining because that’s what a magazine needs to be like to draw people in to buying it and to get them to subscribe.

Mood

I will encourage people to buy the magazine through advertising it all over social media and letting people know about the competitions. I will mainly use twitter and Instagram berceuse they are the most used social media amongst children as found in my survey results. I will have give a ways in my magazines such as downloadable codes and the opportunities to win trips to places and too meet some of the artists featured. I will do this because it will increase the numbers of buyers because they have the chance to win something big.

Publicity

Unique selling point• My magazine will be different to others through

the amount of giveaways and competitions. Furthermore it will have artist not seen on magazines before. It will be new innovative and exciting making readers subsribe for each monthly edition.
