Proposed Location: Castaways Park or other site chosen by City of Newport Beach

Cost of Sculpture: $50,000.00

Cost to include: Sculpture, Base, Engraving of plaques, as per request for proposal,

and Delivery to Newport Beach, CA Maintenance of Sculpture: Regular dusting and new coat of wax yearly.

Protection of Patina Sprayed with matte Krylon, (for durability), and then waxed.

Timeline: Assuming commission will be awarded by 4/15/2011

1. Using live model to do 18" (quarter life size) clay macquette 4/15/11 to get the correct attitude of pose and the accurate measurements to

for armatures. 4/29/11

2. Building of armatures. 4/29/11 to

5/13/11

3. Using live model and photographs, I will load clay onto 5/13/11 armature and begin sculpting. I will use calipers to make sure work is to

accurate and proportional. I will start the work loosely and refine to a 9/16/11 highly finished piece. If sculpture is finished before 9/16/2011, I will move up the foundry date, and notify the city.

4. Foundry time (approximately 10 weeks). 9/16/11 to

12/2/11

Inspiration of Submittal

Ronald Reagan, an insightful and uncommonly effective American icon will remain in the history books as a leader who stood proud and tall.

He governed by what he truly believed, regardless if it was politically wise or not. His uncanny winning smile and his way of communicating instilled a unique and powerful feeling to all the American people.

Because of my efforts to do a life size bust of Ronald Reagan for Chapman University, (which included scanning hundreds of photos and numerous publications, and visiting the Reagan Memorial Library), I believe I was able to get the essence of the man.

I decided I wanted to create a representation of a man who was not just a great leader, but someone who was approachable, warm, friendly, and filled with quiet dignity, who loved being our president.
