AbstractScience and technology with all its miraculous advancements has fascinated human life to a greatextent that imagining a world without these innovations is hardly possible. While technology is on the raising slope, we should also note the increasing immoral activities. With a technical view,Power Theft is a nonignorable crime that is highly prevalent and at the same time it directly affects the economy of a nation. The final result is the increment in the cost of a power unit. Therefore the necessity of engineering !nowledge is raised to find a really applicable solution forthis problem. When the technological constraint try to limit the easiness to the method used is changed time to time. Therefore power distribution companies have already discovered that thereare so many ways of power thefts. With these observations the solution going to be given should be an allrounder to be more worthwhile. Therefore the most appropriate solution is the "WirelessPower Theft #onitoring System$PrefaceThis is a final year undergraduate engineering pro%ect to be conducted throughout two semestersto give solutions to existing problem in &eylon 'lectricity (oard. We could discover that "Power Theft$ which was the main problem facing &eylon 'lectricity(oard.Since there is no any long term solution has yet been found to prevent this problem westarted to thin! to fire up our engineering !nowledge to solve this problem. )ltimately the ideawas got started designing of "Wireless Power Theft #onitoring System$*nthisreport it isdescribedhowwearegoingtosolvetheproblemmentionedabovewithcomprehensive details. (ecause of existing technologies and measures are not capable of doingdetection of power theft in effective way. +ence it incur huge amount of loss to electric powerdistribution companies. To measure the energy consumption of customers they use both analog meters and digital meters. There are three types of analog meters are being used; Single Phase .Wh meters, three phase .Wh meters, .: #eter faults are identified as a power theft.A: -isconnection of the service lines.B: *dentify only energy meter theft.6: Pic programming and /S# communication technology.3nalog single phase .W+ meterScope of our pro%ect is power theft detection for analog single phase .W+ meter consumers$.Though this is limited to domestic consumers for our testing purposes we can implement this fora three phase analog .W+ meter for the bul! consumers as per the necessity.#eter faults are identified as a power theftThere might have some fault occurred in the meter due to even some mechanical failures. *nthose situations those faults maybe identifiedas power theft. Perhaps it mayhave somemechanical problems in dis!, register, voltage and current coil assembly and so on. This maygive fault values to out of streamline operation of energy meter.-isconnection of the service line#easure the current and voltage through the meter and compare it with service line parameter. *fthey don$t match then disconnect the service line using relays and contractors. 0nly service linedisconnection is performed using our implemented unit. *dentify only energy meter theftThere are many power theft method of the electricity power system .We are only considering thetheft related to the energy meter. The effect of tapping of the distribution lines by using cables isnot considered in this pro%ect.Pic programming and /S# communication technologyWemeasurecurrent andthevoltagethroughthemeter andcomparewiththeservicelineparameters. ,or this measuring of currents and voltages and for comparing values picprogramming circuit using micro c language is used and send a message for disconnection oftheservice line. ,or microcontroller send the message to the controlling place use /S#communication technology.1.$ %et&odolog'The disc revolutions are sensed into pulses by infrared slot sensor. These pulses are shaped andgiven as a digital input to the microcontroller. Then the microcontroller processes the signal andgives a PW# control signal to generate an analog voltage which is proportional to the rotationalspeed of the disc. *n !Wh energy meter rotational speed of the dis! is directly proportional to theactiveelectricpowerdrain throughthe meter.*nthismannerwehopeto generateananalogvoltage which is proportional to the power drain through the meter. 1ext we hope to design a system to get an analog voltage signal proportional to the power drainthrough the service line and it is intended to fix at the far end of the cable from the meter. We hope to achieve our goal to develop this product with a commercial value and !eep the costof product as minimum as to ensure that it is worthwhile to install with bul! supplies and get thebenefit to the &'( by minimi@ing the loss due to the thefts.
