Step 1: Network Version - Stopping the Database Server and Service If you are using the Network version of PropertyBoss, you MUST STOP the database server before you begin the installation. If you are running the Single User Version, you can skip to Step 4. Instructions

1. Double click on the PBServer icon on your desktop.

2. Select the Configuration Tab and click the Stop Database Server button and follow the prompts. Click OK in the “Stopping Database” confirmation window.

3. The Network Version of PropertyBoss should be running as

a Windows Service. You MUST STOP and DELETE this service before you begin the installation. Click the Services tab and uncheck the Use Windows Service checkbox.

4. A confirmation window will open with this message:

If you turn this option off, PropertyBoss will stop and delete any existing server. Do you want to change to not use a service? Click Yes to confirm. A DOS window will open. Press any key to continue.

5. A confirmation window will open with this message:

Are you sure you want to delete the existing service?

Click Yes to confirm. A DOS window will open. Press any key to continue.

Step 2: Uninstalling SQL Anywhere Studio 8 If you are running an older version of SQL Anywhere or Sybase, it is recommended that you first uninstall this before installing the new version included in your Upgrade Package email. To do so, go to Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs (Windows XP) or Programs and Features (Windows Vista).

Step 3: Installing the Sybase iAnywhere 11 Upgrade on your Server Computer Part A: Download Instructions

1. Click the Download link included in the Upgrade Package email. The PropertyBoss website will open with links for downloading several items included PBServer (Sybase iAnywhere) and PropertyBoss.

2. Click the Download button for Sybase iAnywhere Database Server. This is the PBServer installation file. When prompted to Run or Save, select Save the file to your desktop. If you do not indicate your desktop as the location, the file will probably be saved in your Downloads folder.

3. When the download is complete, a pbserver.exe icon will appear on your desktop. Part B: Installation Instructions

1. Shut down all programs. It is also recommended that you temporarily disable antivirus software as it could prevent various files from being updated during installation. Once installation is complete, you can re-enable your antivirus software. If you are not familiar with antivirus software, we recommend consulting your IT professional who can ensure that you do not leave your computer vulnerable to attacks.

2. Double click the pbserver.exe icon on your desktop and progress through the installation wizard.

3. When prompted, enter the password indicated in your Upgrade Package mail. If you need to have the email

resent, submit a Client Care request.

4. When installation is complete, you have installed PBServer. You can now delete the pbserver.exe icon from your desktop. An icon for the PBServer application will be added to your desktop in the next step.

5. RESTART YOUR COMPUTER. If you do not restart your computer, you will receive error messages in later installation steps.

Notes: If you did not save the installation file to your desktop and are not sure where to locate it, search your computer for pbserver.exe or download the file again and note the download location. For non-Vista and non-Windows 7 operating systems, a PBServer shortcut icon will appear on your desktop. This shortcut provides access to the PBServer program installed in the previous step. For Vista and Windows 7 operating systems with User Access Control (UAC) turned off, a PBServer icon will appear on your desktop. If UAC is turned on, the PBServer shortcut icon may not have been created. Cancel out of any error messages that may have displayed and PropertyBoss will close. Manually create the shortcut by going to C:\Program Files\PropertyBoss. Right click on pbserver.exe and select Send To then select Desktop.

Step 5: Installation Options for Registered Users The Welcome to PropertyBoss screen provides 3 Installation Options for Registered Users. Select the appropriate option. If you select the wrong installation option, it is not necessary to reinstall the software.

Single User Installation: Supports the production use of PropertyBoss on this computer only.

Network Installation – Workstation: Supports a user on this computer accessing PropertyBoss databases on a server computer on the network. Only use this option if your company purchased the network version of PropertyBoss.

Network Installation – Server: Supports running a database engine on this computer for Network Workstations to access. This installation option also includes the Workstation Installation. You should only choose this option if your company purchased the network version of PropertyBoss. You will also need to install the SQL Anywhere database software on this server computer.

Changing the Installation Mode To change the installation, double click the PropertyBoss icon to launch the application. If the current installation mode is Single User, you will see Change Installation at the bottom of the Database List window. Click Change Installation, then click Yes, then Yes again and then click OK to get through the prompt windows. On the Database List window click OK to reopen the Installation Options window. Step 6: Upgrading the Database(s) Network Version Database Upgrade: If you installed PropertyBoss in the Network Version mode, you will see a new icon on your desktop for PropertyBoss Server and PropertyBoss. Double click on the PropertyBoss Server icon to start the database server. Possible Issue: If you did not uninstall SQL Anywhere Studio 8, you will receive the follow message. Click OK and return to Step 2 above.

PropertyBoss Release 10.01 requires a new version (Release 11) of SQL Anywhere. Before using this new version, you must first uninstall SQL Anywhere Release 8 from the Control Panel. The control panel entry to uninstall appears under the name SQL Anywhere Studio 8.

1. The Database Upgrade Needed window will open. Click OK. A confirmation window will open stating: This new version of PropertyBoss is delivered with the SQL Anywhere Release 11. The databases must be upgraded to run under SQL Anywhere 11. When you click OK on this message, a Window will open to upgrade the server databases. Note: You will only receive this message once. If you cancel off the upgrade window, you can re-open the upgrade window from the Utilities tab of the PropertyBoss Server Configuration Window.

2. Click OK. PropertyBoss will determine which databases(s) must be upgraded in SQL Anywhere 11 and run the upgrade automatically.

3. If you closed this window and did not click OK, select the Utilities tab in the PropertyBoss Server Startup

Window. Select the Upgrade Databases to SQL Anywhere 11 button to initiate the upgrade.

4. A window will open listing the database(s) currently selected for upgrading. Click Continue.

5. A confirmation window will open asking you to confirm that you want to upgrade the database(s). Click Yes.

6. A progress window will open. The upgrade process may take between 5 and 15 minutes per database depending on the size of the database.

7. Several DOS windows will open and close.

8. Next click on the Services tab in the PBServer window. Check the Use Windows Service checkbox. Open PropertyBoss and Upgrade Database For the Single User Version or the Network Version installation, you will now need to double click on the PropertyBoss icon.
