Castle Rock’s central location and easy access to major state travel routes are highly attractive. The primary Colorado north-south interstate, I-25, runs through Castle Rock and links the community with the major east-west routes of I-70 and I-80. Three I-25 interchanges in town provide direct access to the town’s commercial districts, as well as US Highway 85 and Colorado Highways 83 and 86.

With a population of approximately 48,000, Castle Rock is a diverse, affluent and highly educated community, with approximately 54% achieving a four-year degree. Many of Castle Rock’s highly skilled workforce commute to the Denver Technological Center (DTC), located 15 minutes north on I-25.

The Douglas County School District serves Castle Rock with 21 elementary, middle and high schools. The district offers small class sizes and an excellent curriculum, allowing the students to thrive. Students in the Douglas County School District continue to outpace the state average on the Colorado Student Assessment Program (CSAP). Beyond K-12 schooling, higher education possibilities are in the area, including Arapahoe Community College which offers classes at Castleview High School, and has plans to expand. Additionally, several colleges and universities are located within a short commute to Denver or Colorado Springs.

RECREATIONAL AMENITIES

Castle Rock is known for its recreational opportunities, including its beautiful open space and parks, with 5,475 acres of open space in the town and 18 developed parks. The town also offers 44 miles of soft-surface and paved trails, with an additional 50 miles of trails planned for the near future. Its location on the doorstep of the Rocky Mountains ensures an abundance of opportunities in which to enjoy the great outdoors.

In 2010 Castle Rock was named one of the Top 10 Best Golfing Communities by Livability.com. The area is home to numerous public and private golf courses, including Red Hawk Ridge Golf Course, designed by award-winning golf course architect Jim Engh. Other notable courses include Castle Pines Golf Club and Plum Creek Golf& Country Club.

With a current town population of approximately 48,000, the Castle Rock area (a ten mile radius from the city center) has access to nearly 100,000 individuals currently, with 20% growth expected through 2016. The community offers a highly-educated population with approximately 54% achieving a four-year degree or higher. Art and culture is also abundant in Castle Rock, including a large community commitment to the arts. The town annually hosts a variety of events to provide entertainment and draw visitors to the area, including the Larkspur Renaissance Festival, Elephant Rock Bike Ride, the Douglas County Fair, parade and rodeo, Winefest, Oktoberfest and Artfest. Artfest is a two-day festival located in downtown Castle Rock showcasing the creations of over 180 artists from across the US. Now in its 20th year, Artfest is the largest event in the Castle Rock area, drawing nearly 26,000 spectators to participate in the musical entertainment, cultural dancing, food, wine and the family-oriented celebration.

Shopping opportunities are vast in the area. Colorado’s largest outlet center is located here – the Outlets at Castle Rock. The third most popular destination in the Denver metro area, the Outlets at Castle Rock features an open-air shopping environment surrounded by spectacular scenery in a pedestrian and pet-friendly setting, drawing over 4 million shoppers to the area each year. Historic downtown Castle Rock offers unique designer boutiques and specialty shops, along with coffee houses and restaurants, providing an enjoyable and unique shopping experience. Additional shopping venues are dotted throughout the Castle Rock area, including national retail chains and specialty shops. Retailers are consistently entering into and expanding in the Castle Rock area.

CASTLE ROCK ADVENTIST HEALTH CAMPUS

Located across from the site in the master planned community The Meadows will be the Castle Rock Adventist Health Campus. The Campus is a $23.6 million medical facility that is scheduled to be complete and in the fall of 2011 and will provide area residents with a 40,000-square-foot medical office building and a 22,000-square-foot emergency room and imaging center. The facility is part of Centura Health, Colorado’s largest hospital and health care network. In addition to bringing health services to the area, the campus will also bring a number of health care industry related employment opportunities. Future expansion plans will ultimately make this facility a full hospital campus.
