“To create platform for self-employment generation by diffusion of proven and field-tested technologies through demonstration, training and extension activities.”
26
Projects aiming to promote use of biotechnological processes and tools for the benefit of women are supported
In agriculture and animal husbandry fish farming, poultry farming, pig production, goat farming, value added products, floriculture, hybrid seed production, integrated farming system, Entrepreneurship development,
bio-resource utilization,
women and child health, hygiene and nutrition.
Large numbers of Women Self Help Groups benefited. Biotechnology-led-Socio-economic empowerment of
Farm Women progamme implemented by IARI, New Delhi, Deen Dayal Institute, Chitrakoot and Participatory Rural Development Foundation (PRDF), Gorakhpur UP- 21 Women Self Help groups were introduced for taking up improved agricultural technology through demonstrations and trainings- introduction of nutrition garden, new crops and varieties of wheat, rice, berseem, mustard, moong, maize, oat, barley, cotton, different vegetables, fodder crops etc.
28
Rural Biotechnology Innovation and Application Unit (RBTIAU) has been established and working as a single window delivery system for the adopted villages in imparting information on new technologies, improved tools, farm implements etc. The implementation of this project helped in drudgery reduction by using new farm tools demonstrated in the project areas.
29
A Breast cancer screening programme supported in four districts of North-East India namely Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram and Tripura through Cancer Foundation of India, Kolkata in which more than 11000 women have been sensitized on breast health.
30
Awareness generation and screening for cervical cancer in women was implemented by Government Medical College, Srinagar, Jammu& Kashmir in which more than 2000 women were screened for cervical cancer
31
Was set up in the year 2000 to provide opportunities for professionally qualified women to take to a career of remunerative self-employment through the organization of environment friendly biotechnological enterprises Governing Body Technologies classified into four broad segments: Agriculture, Food, Medical & Environmental Biotechnology 15 Entrepreneurs have been supported with their Units incubated at the park.
