goalsThe child will...• Know that God’s love for him is unconditional!• Understand that God’s love for him is unending!• Believe that God’s love was so great that He sent His one and only Son to die for him!

reminderThere are so many things in life that you can’t rely on, but the one thing that will never change is

God’s unfailing love. The children we minister to face many disappointments and need to know that they can always count on God and His love for them.

acknowledgementsWe want to express our gratitude to the volunteers who contributed ideas toward the development of

this lesson: Deborah Lunsford, Sky Elliot, LaShane Hill, and Kristn Punjabi. All of our contributors work

God’s unfailing love for moses (BIBLE STORY - Exodus 2-4)Recommended Visuals• Bible Story visuals*, Lip Sync visuals*Recommended Supplies• Bible, Bible character costumes, microphone or hair brush, reporter’s hat, “press” badge,

Captivate #1 - News Flash!• Recruit a child or leader to be the reporter covering a news report on the Bible Story. Give him a

microphone, a play microphone, or a hair brush to use as his microphone. You could also have him

wear a hat with a “press” card tucked in it or a “press” badge. This would work best if they were given time to develop their skit in advance.

Captivate #2 - Lip Sync!• Print the Lip Sync visuals and cut out the mouth section of each. Choose a child to be each

character. Have them repeat different parts of the story as you tell it. Also emphasize expressions.Introduction• The Israelites were prisoners in Egypt. In spite of the harsh environment of being imprisoned, the

Israelites grew in strength and numbers. This worried the king. He ordered that if there were any male babies born to the Israelites, they must be killed.

Story• Retell the story from Exodus 2-4.• See Story Script. Conclusion• God loved Moses and had a plan for his life. God knew that Moses would make horrible mistakes

and doubt God, but God still loved him unconditionally. God used Moses in spite of his weaknesses and failures. God was always with Moses.

testimony• Share a time that you experienced the love of God.• Share a time that you felt very unloveable and yet God showed you how much He loves you.

Supplies• BibleIntroduction• In our Bible Story today we saw that throughout Moses’ life, God was always with him. Moses was

just a man who had insecurities and made mistakes. His anger caused him to kill a man, and his insecurities caused him to doubt the plan that God had for him. Through those times God continued to love Moses and use him. No matter what the circumstances or the choices Moses

made, God was with him and loved him unconditionally.Key PointsGod’s love is unconditional!• The Bible tells us that even if the mountains shake or the hills are removed, God’s love will never

be shaken (Isaiah 54:10).• God is so good and His love is unfailing; He is ready to forgive anyone who asks (Psalm 86:5).• We all make mistakes and there is no mistake so great that God won’t forgive us and stop loving

us.God’s love is never ending!• God’s love for us will last forever; it has no end – it cannot be measured (Psalm 100:5).• God’s love reaches to the Heavens (Psalm 36:5).• Sometimes you may feel like a failure or unloveable because you make the same mistakes over

and over again, but there is no end to God’s love and grace!

God’s love is sacrificial!• God’s love is so great for us that He sent His only Son to die for our sins so we could be forgiven

and have a relationship with Him. Our sin separates us from God, and the only way to receive

forgiveness was through a perfect sacrifice – Jesus.• Really think about that for a minute – God was willing to have His Son go through horrible pain and

death because of His great love for YOU! That is what sacrificial love looks like. Conclusion• Just like Moses, we will make mistakes and let people down. We are not perfect. The only One

Who is perfect is God, and God will never let us down. His love is the greatest love we can ever know!

challenge (CONTINUED)

InvitationFor the unsaved child:

• Did you know that God loves you so much that He sent His Son to die so you can be forgiven of

your sins (Romans 5:8)? His love for you is unconditional and will never end. Do you want to ask Him to forgive your sins and be the Lord of your life?

• Invite the children to stay behind and talk to a leader if they have any questions or would like to ask Jesus to forgive their sins and be the Lord of their lives (John 3:16).

For the saved child:

• Life can be difficult at times, and you might face great obstacles and great successes. Always remember that God loves you!

• Challenge the children to love God in return and to honor Him in all that they do. Invite the children

to stay behind and talk to a leader if they have any questions.

rings (ARRIVING ACTIVITY)

Visuals• picture of wedding rings*

Instruction and Application• As the children arrive, show them the picture of the wedding rings and ask them if they have ever

attended a wedding. During a wedding the couple will exchange vows, maybe light a unity candle,

and be pronounced man and wife. Oftentimes they also choose to exchange rings. The circle of the ring represents unending love. The giving of the rings represents the commitment, faithfulness, and love the couple has. Sadly, in our society people don’t always stay committed to their vows for a variety of reasons. People make mistakes and let each other down, but God’s promise to always

love us is a promise that we can count on. The Bible talks about how a man should love his wife just as Christ loved the church (Ephesians 5:25). Jesus gives us the perfect example of what true, unconditional love is. We should love like God loves!

never ending (MEMORY VERSE)

Visuals• Memory Verse visual*, picture of kids singing*

Supplies• bubbles

A.G.A.I.N. AcrosticA — Attention Grabber (Grab the children’s attention with an interesting introduction – don’t let go!)Show the children the picture of the kids singing and ask them if they have ever been on a trip and sung “This is the song that never ends.” It goes on and on and on, my friends! It usually ends up with

everyone laughing and the song ending. God’s love is for everyone and it will never end.

G — God’s Word (Show that the concept you are teaching them comes from God’s Word, the Bible.)

Psalm 100:5, “For the Lord is good; His steadfast love endures forever, and His faithfulness to all generations.”

A — Awareness (Make children “aware” of the words and concepts.) steadfast love endures forever – God’s love for us goes on, won’t end or change faithfulness – God can be counted on, He will never let you down all generations – through all time: past, present, and future

I — In Their Lives (Teach children to apply the lesson “in their lives.”) Unsaved child (questions to ask an unsaved child)

Has anyone ever let you down? How do people let you down? Has God ever let you down?

Saved child (questions to ask a saved child)

How is God faithful to you each and every day? How does He speak, guide, help, and comfort you? How can you love others with God’s love?

N — Number of Times (Repeat the content again and again until the children understand it.)

Read from Scripture. Repeat after me. Play the Memory Game 3 or 4 times.

Memory Game

Play Bubble Pop. Select a child to blow bubbles. As the bubbles float to the ground, have the team try to say the verse together (not racing) before the last bubble pops. They should keep saying the verse until the last bubble pops. Start out saying the verse slowly; then speed up each time you say

it. This makes the game more exciting and challenging.

• “Who is God?” and “What’s the Solution?” Foundational Gospel Truths visual*, picture of Victoria Childress*

Supplies

• Bible, paper, writing tools, ball

Instruction and Application

• NOTE: Be careful and use discretion sharing this story with young children.• Victoria Childress grew up in a broken home without the love that many people take for granted.

She lived in a house with no electricity for two or three years and often went to a friend’s house to

take a bath or have something to eat. She was very depressed; and to deal with her emotional pain, and Victoria began cutting words on her arm in the dark. One night she carved the word sad on her arm. This was a temporary crutch that was leading her down a dangerous road to suicide. Victoria felt she had nothing to live for. Her doctors began the healing process with her which led

to the true reason for living. Victoria cried out to God, “God, if you are real, can you help me?” and God showed up! She began going to church where they taught her about God, and slowly the empty hole began to fill with the love of God. She went from being sad to being filled with joy

because of the love of God. • Victoria learned who God really is; He is the Creator of all things, including her. She learned that

God is loving and that He loves her very much. Use the “Who is God?” Foundational Gospel Truths

visual to review.• Victoria learned that God loved her so much that He willingly sent His Son to die, to be the

Substitute for her sins. Jesus was perfect and the only One who could pay the price for her sins. Use the “What’s the Solution?” Foundational Gospel Truths visual to review.

Discussion

• Older Team: Have the children discuss different ways that people deal with their feelings and pain. Remind them that God is always there no matter what they are going through.

• Younger Team: Have the children discuss what they do when they are sad or upset. Remind them

that God loves them and is always there for them.• Quiet Team: Have the children make two columns on their paper. At the top of one write “With

God” and at the top of the other write “Without God.” Below have them write feelings they have with or without God.

• Active Team: Have the children sit in a circle or around a table. Give the first child the ball. Have them spell the word “loved” by each saying a letter of the word as they pass the ball. At the end of the word the next child will say what it means to them that God loves them. Repeat a few times,

allowing other children to share what they think.

Visuals

• craft sample*Supplies

• Moses puzzle (one per child)*, scissors, coloring toolsInstruction and Application

• Give each of the children a Moses puzzle. Have them color their papers and then cut out the

puzzle pieces. Remind them that we learned about the life of Moses; and through all of his experiences, successes, and failures – God always loved him and was there for him. God kept His promise to Moses and He keeps His promises to us! “For the Lord is good; His steadfast love

what’s the point? (APPLICATION ACTIVITY)

Supplies

• paper, writing tools, “What’s the Point?” cards*Activity #1

• Give each of the children a “What’s the Point?” card. Discuss the promise from God that they learned about today. “God promises to always love me!” What does it mean for the children

personally that God promises to always love them? What ways can the children put into action what they learned today? Give the children time to write their responses on their cards.

Activity #2

• Have the children take turns acting out how they can tell their friends or family about how God

loves them. If you have a group that is more quiet, you could choose to have them draw a picture instead.
