Challenges:

Construction in Qingdao, China for shipping to Siberia region in Russia. Harsh natural environment of site requiring Stainless Steel materials. Team need to understand the application, products realization methods and be able to response to the requests of the customers precisely and promotely in very short time. Volume of deliveries in order to meet tight shipping deadlines due to inaccessibility in northern winter China plant had not previously supplied IEC product. Solutions / Results:

Through utilising Unistruts global network, we were able to understand the application and offer the right products for the application. Project completed 100% on time by end 2016 Zero quality claims generated. No late deliveries.

Design a Hgh Level CMS ssupport bracket capable of supporting Multiple runs of CMS over a 46 km distace and to have a design life of 40 yearsenvironment in a C5. Bracket to be fitted to a TBM bored tunnel from the back of a works train where time installing was critical. Reduction on nimber of bolts from a standard cantilever arrangement was nessassary. Solutions / Results:

Production of bespoke curved multi arm cantilever bracket. Utilising welded arms to reduce fixing time in tunnel. Produced in silicone rich steel to draw minimum 120 microns of HG to meet design life in C5 environment. Curved bracket to radius of tunnel section to also reduce fixing required. Order won for supply of 46km worth of brackts at 3,2m centers down the tunnel.

Challenges:

Design a High Voltage cable containment system for a C5 environmet with a 40 yrs design life. Green critiria were important. Speed of installation big factor. Innovation was encouraged. Containment needed to be covered to allow a workman to stand on the system when installed.

Solutions / Results:

Designed a swaged Heavy duty Ladder system. System designed for longer than normal span (3.2m). Designed swaged ladder system for improved manufacturing efficiences. Used innovative Magnelis coating which gave the required design life in the C5 environment at a commercial rate and had much less zinc in it ( 25% of the amount needed for HG brackets. Designed hook over cover with single side fixing in 2mm material that can withstand 120kg standing load. Won contract to supply 47km of ladder and Lid.

Rolled P5001 to 7m as a special. Designed and provided calculatulations for the support rails and the prefabricated loops.Provided expansion gap calculation and splice arrangement. Supplied £150k of the above to site and to prefabrication site.

A mix of bespoke WS part codes including modular frames, groyne plates, wedge plates and fixings. Kwick strut channel nuts have also been used in this project.

Challenges:

All fixings had to be within a 2mm tolerance and all welds had to be brushed and smooth. This is to prevent the force of water from pulling fixings away. All frames and parts had to be produced within a timescale to achieve deadlines ready for the Olympic games. Solutions / Results:

The above targets were achieved. All products were shipped on time. Our products there for featured in the Paris Olympics.
