Project Name: CS Power Tools Status: complete Period: 20011 - 2013 Employer: S.W.I.F.T Scrl Technologies & Disciplines: Windows Server, PHP, Apache, HTML, Javascript, XML, SWIFT Messaging protocols
A need was identified for a suite of internal tools for customer services, consulting and IT departments. The foundation for these tools would need to be a custom-made application server allowing rapid deployment and management of applications in a distributed cluster where single nodes are located on different continents. The result was the CS Power Tools Framework which incorporated package management, cluster management, direct HTTP controls, centralized remote logging and a back-end API for inter-node communication. In addition common visual themes, and Javascript libraries were custom-made to link all applications with a unified look and feel. The application server was restricted from running a database which also led to the development of a proprietary data table format. On top of this powerful framework, no less than 11 tools were deployed to the CS Power Tools Framework in 2 years.

Developed a next generation multilingual SNS engine from the ground up including database, user file-server, messaging system, advanced profile matching, automated podcast broadcasting (including automated iTunes RSS generation), multiple user interfaces and mental health analyzer. The system also incorporates automated management tools for garbage collection, database backups as well as a secure web-facing API for third-party access. Full scalability with support for web server clustering was also built in.

Produced a server-driven e-learning application for young children called Kidz Primer 1. The project entailed database design, OS configuration, advanced Action Script programming, interface design as well as the logic behind the customizable curriculum and lesson plans. A Flash based client was chosen as the best method for delivering the application to the broadest user-base possible making the client application largely OS independent. Full developer and user manuals as well as automated installation discs and administration tools suitable for non-technical users were also produced.

Designed the user interfaces for the official Yahoo! BB email client based on IncrediMail software. The brief called for a simple, elegant interface suitable to a broad range of Yahoo! BB customers and to be available in a variety of colors matching the available color schemes of the web-based Yahoo! Mail.

Produced a number of interfaces (skins) and managed the setup contents for the Ayupan (the well known avatar of J-Pod queen Ayumi Hamasaki) branded version of the IncrediMail email client called Ayupan Mail (licensed by Avex/Axev K.K).

Developed a proprietary Flash server (predating Macromedia/Adobe Flash Media Server) designed specifically for broadcasting updated Flash data to non web-based software that uses embedded Flash technology. The project was initially customer driven to satisfy the requirements of customers such as Avex K.K. in sending contents to their branded desktop application. I designed the system from the ground up including both client and admin interfaces, database, client-server Action Script connectivity and even built the customized production server by hand.

Designed and developed a brand new portal site for the Japanese edition of IncrediMail to act as the first point of contact for all downloads, brand version sales (Ayupan Mail etc), user support and the online contents gallery for letters, ecards, sounds, animations, desktop notifiers and skins. I was entrusted with designing the databases, content management system, automated server maintenance scripts, front end user interface, Server configuration and security and creating development manuals and server installation discs for third-party system administrators.

Developed a user driven community contents gallery for the Japanese version of the IncrediMail email client. The site incorporated an online gallery of letter background, e-cards and animations as well as a backend database, content management system and user contents approval policy system.

Developed Overture Hi-Fi Ltd.'s first homepage to help broaden the marketing efforts of these nationally well known hi-fi specialists. The first version was a huge success and subsequent versions saw the introduction of an online used hi-fi database, member's area with instruction manual repository, music reviews, news, and a full content management system. The system, including email services, were all hosted on my own servers. This was my first major web application project.
