    TheBoxlightPRO80S3Projectorisathree-chipDLPprojectorwithanativeresolutionof1280x720pixels(16:9aspectratio).Theprojectoraccepts720pvideothroughaDVI-Dconnectorontherearpanel.

    TheprojectoriscontrolledbyapairofMTV312M64microcomputers.Thefirstisthemaincontrollerandisresponsibleforlampballastandformatterinitialization.Itcontinuouslymonitorsthestateoftheformatters,theballastandthevideoinputprimarilytopreventthelampfromextinguishingduetolossofvideoorunintentionalresettingoftheformattersduetopowerfluctuations.CommunicationwiththecontrolleristhroughanRS-232interfaceusingasimplecommand/parameteprotocol.ThesecondprocessormanagestheIRremotecontrolfunctions:lensshift,focusandzoom.IthasnoexternalcommunicationsinterfaceexcepttheIRreceiver. TherearefourI/Oconnectors,twoswitchesandnineLEDsontherearpanel.

    WhenthemainpowerswitchisturnedON,theprojectorcomesupinSTANDBYmode.Itmaybeleftinthisstateindefinitely.BothcontrollersandtheRS-232circuitryarepoweredsothattheunitcanrespondtoserialcommands,theIRRemoteControlortherearpanelswitch.Theballasts,fansandformattersarenotenergized.Note:TheIRRemotePOWERbuttonisalwaysactivebuttheotherbuttonsmaybedisabled.Iftheunitispoweredup

    usingtheIRRemote,allIRcommandswillbeenabled.Iftheunitispoweredupusingtherearpanelswitchorviatheserialport,onlytheIRPOWERbuttonwillbeactive.IRRemotebuttonsmaybeenabledordisabledwiththe andserialcommands.TheprojectormaythenbepoweredUPorDOWNusinganyofthemethodsabove.Therearpanelswitchismultifunctional.ThefollowingoperationdescriptionassumesthatthemainpowerswitchisON:

    ,themulticolorLEDtotheleftoftheswitchwillglowREDandonthe8LEDstatusdisplay,theREADYLEDwillbeON.(Iftherewereanyproblemsencounteredduringthepreviouspower-oncycle,otherLEDsmaybeflashing.)Depressingtheleftsideoftheswitchmomentarily(1/2secondormore)willpoweruptheunit,turningonthelampandinitializingtheformatters.ThemulticolorLEDwillglowGREEN.TheprojectorwillcomeupinCURTAINprojectionmodewiththeshutterclosed.TheSTATUSLEDswilldisplaytheprogressofthepower-upsequence.WhenalloftheLEDsexceptfortheSHUTTERLEDarelit,theshuttermaybeopened.

    IftheprojectorisPOWEREDUP,amomentarydepressionoftherightsideoftheswitch(1/2secondormore)willopentheSHUTTERandputtheformattersinNORMALPROJECTIONMODE.SubsequentdepressionswilltogglebetweenNORMALMODE/SHUTTEROPENandCURTAINMODE/SHUTTERCLOSED.DepressingtheleftsideoftherockerswitchwillcausetheSHUTTERtocloseandtheformatterstogotoCURTAINMODEandalsoinitiatesa5-MINUTEPOWERDOWNcycle.Duringthistimethelamp,fansandformattersremainactive.ThemulticolorLEDwillglowYELLOW(boththeREDandGREENareON).TheSTATUSLEDsshouldallbeONexceptforSHUTTER.Ifnootheractionistakenforthenext5minutes,theprojectorwillgothroughthe60SECONDPOWEROFFsequence:thelampisextinguishedandthefansareleftrunningfor60secondsbeforegoingbacktoSTANDBY.Iftheshutdownwasnotduetosomeanomaly,e.g.,afanfailure,alloftheSTATUSLEDswillbeOFF.Iftherewasananomaly,oneormoremaybeflashing.

    TheREADYLEDwillgoOFFwhenthelampisextinguished.ItwillgobackONafter90secondsindicatingthatthelampmaybere-struck.Acommandtore-strikeviaanyofthethreemethods-serial,IRorswitchmaybeissuedatanytimebutthere-strikewillnotoccuruntilthe90-secondlampcool-downhasexpired. Iftheprojectorisinthe5MINUTEPOWERDOWNsequence,amomentarydepressionoftheleftsideoftheswitch(1/2secondormore)willinitiatethe60SECONDPOWEROFFsequence.The5MINUTEPOWERDOWNmaybecanceledbyissuingan or commandthroughtheserialport,bydepressingtherightsideoftherockerswitchoriftheIRremoteisenabled-depressingthe buttontoopentheSHUTTER.ThemulticolorLEDwillagainglowGREEN. The60SECONDPOWEROFFsequencefirstextinguishesthelamp,extinguishestheSTATUSLEDsandresetsthe90secondlampcool-downtimer.Nore-strikewillbepermitteduntilittimesout.Ifnofurtheractionistaken,after60secondsthemainpowerwillbeturnedoffthefansgoOFF-andtheprojectorwillbebackinSTANDBY.Commandstorestarttheprojectormaybeissuedbeforethe60SECONDPOWEROFFsequencecompletes:serialcommand,IR buttonorleftrockerswitch.60SECONDPOWEROFFwillbecanceledbutthelampwillnotre-strikeuntilthe90secondcool-downperiodhasexpired.ThePOWRSTATELEDwillshowGREEN.

    Highpressurelampmayexplodeifimproperlyhandled.Referservicingtoqualifiedservicepersonnel.Thecustomershouldneverattempttodisassemblethelamportodisposeofthelampcasingotherthanbyreturningtothedealer.Ifthelampbreaks,leavetheareaimmediatelyandstayawayforatleast30minutesandventilatetheroomsoasnottoinhalethemercuryvapor.Ifyouinhalethemercuryvapor,seeaphysicianimmediatelyandfollowtheirinstructions.Lampreplacementisrecommendedafter3000hoursofuse.Wait60minutesafterturningoffandunpluggingtheprojectorpowercordbeforeperformingthelampreplacement.
