MX LINE COMPLEMENTS THE CLEAN DESIGN OF THE J. LINDEBERG FLAGSHIP STORE IN L.A.

The 1900 sq. ft. space previously served as an art gallery with a mezzanine that had to be stripped out and reconfigured to reflect the high-quality boutique shopping environment J. Lindeberg’s expanding customer base desired.
Pleskow Architects was given free reign to develop a whole new design direction and concept that would reflect the company’s Scandinavian roots. The spaces are simple, elegantly defined, and differentiated from the existing building shell through the use of light wood paneling, discreet lighting, and a ‘floating’ wood staircase. The design features clean, simple lines and incorporates a variety of materials to create a rich, complex space that complements their clothing lines.
Swedish-based clothier J.Lindeberg recently opened its West Coast flagship store on the Sunset Strip in West Hollywood. Pleskow Architects in Los Angeles specified Intense Lighting’s MX family of high quality, LED-based fixtures for the project.
“We wanted to use a family of light fixtures that would not only light the natural wood paneling in the store, but critically spotlight J. Lindeberg’s merchandise,” says Tony Pleskow, Principal/Founder of the award-winning firm. “The MX line offered us the beam spread flexibility, lighting temps and trim options to meet all of our needs in this project. The aim-able spotlights are seamless and integrate beautifully into the ceiling plane, enhancing our minimal, simple design aesthetic.”

“Our design team worked closely with our lighting rep from the Wiedenbach-Brown Company headquartered in Hawthorne, NY,” says Pleskow. “We relied on his recommendations regarding the MX line from Intense Lighting. Not only were we impressed with the line’s versatility, but the price point fit into our budget, which made our decision even easier.”
The electrician for this project was Mark Levitt of Scott Electric. He says almost every commercial job he works on these days utilizes LED fixtures. “Installing the MX line was uncomplicated despite the size and scope of the project,” Levitt explains. “In the end, the trimless fixtures created a smooth, seamless look due to great product design and a great drywaller that helped us achieve the look we desired.”
The store opened its doors in late July of 2015 and Store Manager Dezija Grospina couldn’t be happier with the lighting. “It’s easily adjustable and extremely versatile, which is ideal whenever we change merchandise around. We are very satisfied.”
