The construction of 28.4 kilometres of rail earthworks was required which included; bulk earthworks (including drill and blast operations) installation of four kilometres of CSP culverts, construction of road crossings, signal pads, turnout pads and the re-construction of one kilometre of the existing Roebourne to Wittenoom road. Peak manning on the project reached 350 personnel. NRW had been working for Fortescue Metals Group at Solomon since July 2011 undertaking the Early Mining Works (see project fact sheet PFS-062).
