The Poly-Shock Pad is a seamless, resilient, rubber and polyurethane bound shock pad which is installed without joints and laid in-situ (paved directly onto the sub-base material). The use of a Poly-Shock Pad is critical to maintaining a consistent performing field as well as mitigating injury and improving player comfortability.

“There has been absolutely no negative feedback on the field. Which is rare, because when you give players anything new there is usually some reservations about it. The players have found it very comfortable and fast to play on. The shorter turf height [shorter pile/less infill] means the players are able to go with a shorter stud length than the other turf fields around the league. Some of the linemen don’t even have to wear studs at all and still get great traction. The Polytan synthetic turf at BC Place received FIFA 2-Star certification on October 20th, 2011. The FIFA 2-Star certification is the highest ranking designation for a synthetic turf surface and signifies the surface is capable of hosting FIFA Final rounds of competition.

The 47th edition of the Canadian University Football Championship was one of the most spectacular and dramatic in history. The game ended with a 20-yard field goal in the second overtime to lift the McMaster University Marauders to the first Vanier Cup title in program history thanks to a 41-38 win over the Laval Rouge et Or in front of 24,935 fans at BC Place Stadium.

99th GREy CUP, NOvEMBER 27, 2011The BC Lions defeated the Winnipeg Blue Bombers 34-23 at BC Place to capture the 99th Grey Cup for the Championship of the Canadian Football League (CFL). The Lions won every one of their 6 games on the new Polytan synthetic surface after the stadium was re-opened in September.

CONCACAF WOMEN’S OLyMPIC QUALIFyING TOURNAMENT

Canada and the United States both qualified for the 2012 Summer Olympic Games in London, England following the 11-day, eight country tournament. A record crowd for a CONCACAF Women’s Olympic Qualifying Tournament final match was set on the final Sunday as the United States defeated Canada 4-0 in front of 25,427 fans. BC Place with its FIFA 2-Star certified Polytan synthetic field is the front-runner to host the finals of the 2015 Women’s World Cup which will be held in Canada.
