ABSTRACT
Database Wiz is an innovative online database access
wizard. Specifically aimed at developers working with different
databases. In simple, using Database Wiz any developer with minimal knowledge can
easily do the following things connect to multiple databases easily create databases online modify databases online import and export data execute SQL statements online
Existing System
Generally, each Database vendor provides an appropriate interface or editor to work with that database.
Each editor has its own procedures to interact with the database.
A user is required to understand and master the specifics of each editor.
Proposed System
This tool provides a common interface/editor towork with any database.
The application provides user-friendly and easy to usefeatures to perform any operation on the database.
Novice users can interactively work with the databaseusing menus and simple mouse clicks.
Expert users can also write and execute more complexqueries against the database.
Modules
The list of activities of DataBase Wiz are carefully analyzed and planned into several interwoven modules. The Prototype with spiral modal has been adapted for development of DataBase Wiz in the analysis and design part. The DBW contains four major tasks, which are again subdivided into few more modules as listed below…
Connection Creation Manipulation Import & Export
CONNECTION Selection process is the one first welcomes the user by
providing three options to choose
a. MS Access - To process access database, we require DSN to be created. After the selection of the MS Access provider, the user needs to enter the DSN name for the desired database. Using this ‘User DSN’ the program establishes the connection to the selected database.
b. Oracle – To process oracle database, we require three things namely, User Name, Password and Host (server) name
c. MS SQL Server – The processing of MS SQL Server is somewhat tricky in nature, as the behavior of the database including the structure is different from the rest of the two
CREATION
This module does a simple and routine work. It gets the database information and displays it on screen accordingly
a. Activating database specific connection
b. Database / Schema creation
c. Table design
d. Fields / constraints
MANIPULATION
Execution module simply executes the given query by expelling the results and status. It takes the users query formatted properly under SQL rules.
a. Activating database specific connection
b. Viewing selected data
c. Adding data
d. Modifying data
e. Deleting data
IMPORT & EXPORT
a. Import
Imports an already exported database – Depending on the file selected for import, the file headers were analyzed to find out what type of database it is, and where it has to be imported. After this part, the actual data from the file is read and placed in proper positions of the target database.
b. Export
Exports selected database – Depending on the user selected database type the required routine to export will be selected and executed. This routine generally reads the data from the different tables in that database and exports it to a file of DBW’s own format.
SCREENSFirst choose the type of database you connect
Select choice 1 that connects to the ACCESS DATABASE
Click EXPORT to enter the database name
Aftre EXPORT select IMPORT,then give the file name i.e “Temp.dat”
If you select option 2 then it will show dialog box containing userid, password and host (server) of the Oracle Database
After Connecting to the Oracle Database menu display all
the tables and columns for a each table.
From the file menu select Export ,Which will prompt you to enter Table Name to export to file named
‘tablename.dat’.
To Import database which is export with name ‘tablename.dat’ you have to choose import form file menu, which prompts you enter the file name (eg;
‘tablename.dat’).
Select Option 3 to Connect to SQL Server.Which prompts you to enter username, password and datasource name. Clicks
connect to SQL Server
After Connecting to the SQL Server Database menu display all the tables and columns for a each table.
From the file menu select Export ,Which will prompt you to enter Table Name to export to file named
‘tablename.dat’
To Import database which is export with name ‘tablename.dat’ you have to choose import form file menu, which prompts you enter the file name (eg;
‘tablename.dat’).
