Project Phase
Around the World in Eighty Days
When do I have to know what I am doing
for my product?Your Product Idea Sheet is due on
Wednesday, February 23rd
What kinds of things can I do for my
product? What kinds of things can I NOT do for my product?
See pages 4-6
What does it mean to have to “stretch” or
“challenge” myself in this product?
It means that whatever you choose to do must require you to learn a new skill or expand
a skill you already have. Ultimately, you must learn
something new.
How many hours do I have to spend on this
product?
-15 hrs. to get a “C”
-20-25 hrs. to get a low “A”
-Anything over 25 hrs. is an A+
*Quality is an important
part of the grade, too
How will I prove I spent these hours?
-keep a journal with parent signature (pgs. 11-19)
-provide detailed reflection for each hours check
-the QUALITY of your product-You can also opt to take
pictures of yourself as you complete the product
What are the restrictions on the
hours and product size?-1 hr of research & up
to 2 hrs to gather supplies on 1st check
only-no drying time
-For size, you must be able to transport it and fit it through the doors
of the school
Do I need to take pictures of myself doing my product?
-not required, but encouraged-it is easier to prove that you
are doing the hours if you can show pictures.
-if you take at least 10 pictures of you doing your project in different stages and display
them creatively, you can earn extra credit
-You have to print the pictures and have them on your
presentation day
Can I work with another student on
this product?-NO.
-You have to do this on your own. No group projects
allowed.
If I sew a costume, do I have to be in the
fashion show on Day 80?
-Yes.
When is the last date that I can change my mind about what I am doing for my product?
What happens if I change after this date?
-March 25th
-You lose 30 points on all three test grades
What do I have to do if I change my product
idea?
-fill out the product change form on pages
9-10-turn it in before March
25th
When will this project be due?
The first week of May. You will be assigned
(by a random drawing) a day and time to
present that week.
When do I have to bring and take away
my product?-on your presentation
day during the first week of May
-Plan to go on the first day to make sure that
you are prepared.
Do I have to present my product to the
class?Yes.
What if my product is not done by the day I
present?
-Bring what you have done
-Anything is better than nothing
-If you bring nothing, you fail. No late
projects are accepted.
How will we be graded on the
product?-quality of product and
presentation-time management
-the length to which you “stretched” yourself
-your paperwork proving hours
If I don’t do a product, can I come
to Day 80?You cannot present
anything on Day 80 if you don’t have a
project. This is two test grades as a zero. You can come and watch everybody else pass
the project.
There are four main types of products:
-Models-Performances
-Art-Sewing
(No technology projects)
