DIFFERENT TYPES OF COMPUTER ANIMATION:
CEL ANIMATION: -Cel animation refers to the traditional way of animation in a set of hand
drawings. In this process of animation, various pictures are created which are slightlydifferent but progressive in nature, to depict certain actions. Trace these drawings on a
transparent sheet. This transparent sheet is known as cel and is a medium for drawing frames.
The cel is an effective technique that helps to save time by combining characters and
backgrounds. You can also put the previous drawings over other backgrounds or cels
whenever required. Here.
STOP ANIMATION: Stop Motion Animation is the art and craft of taking a series of images
and then splicing them together in a series. Think of it as flipping through a picture book.
Have you ever taken a series of pages or cards and drew a different image on each one and
then flipped through the card rapidly? It creates a moving picture. This is the theory that all
movies are made on too! A movie is just a series of pictures that are played so fast that the
eye and mind are tricked into believing it is real.

2D- ANIMATION:It is used through Powerpoint and Flash animations. Though its features are
similar to cel animation, 2D animation has become popular due to simple application of
scanned drawings into the computer like in a cartoon film.
MOTION CAPTURE:Motion capture is a type of computer animation that has gained much
interest in recent years. It relies on small sensors that are placed on actors at various points
around their body. The actors perform and their motions are captured by a camera that can
locate the sensors and trace their movement. This motion can then be transferred to a
computer-designed figure who will move in precisely the same way as the actors did.
Motion capture is significant for its bridging the gap between traditional film-making
methods and new technology. Motion capture performances are often discussed in terms of
their realism or emotion, just as live-action performances would be.

Flash Animation
1. One final type of computer animation is Flash animation. Flash animations are named for the
Flash program from Adobe with which they are produced, though today there are other programs that also allow animators to create "flash" animation. Despite its limitations interms of movement and style, Flash is inexpensive to produce and therefore growing in
popularity. Flash animations are often used in advertising and are common as video contenton websites.
Flash animation uses vectors to produce movement. This means that rather than containingan object in each of its states as it moves between points, the program simply stores relevant
information about the characteristics of the object itself and then produces a mathematicalformula that describes its movement. This process is useful for creating computer animations
when file size is an issue, as in Web distribution or when animating on a personal computer.

SWF Flash .swf Animation
ANI--This is one format that cursors (the mouse pointer design) are stored in, under
Microsoft Windows 95, NT, and later versions of Windows. It is designed as a superior
replacement to CUR, as this format (but not CUR) allows animated and color cursor designs.
ANIs are a type of RIFF files. The ANI format also allows transparency so that cursors do not have to appear rectangular
when displayed on screen.
ANI files are essentially a collection of BMP, CUR or ICO data combined together into a
single file, with additional headers and directory information, and organized into a RIFF file.
CUR and ICO data is not compressed. On the other hand BMP data can sometimes be
compressed as is standard with that format.
FLA --is the the file format used in Macromedia Flash for authoring in. The files are converted
into SWF format before use on the Internet.
FLC can store images of variable size, and allows a palette of 256 colors (although the
palette can be changed from line to line to give more colors per frame).
FLC supports a variable frame rate specified in frames a fixed frame rate specified in
milliseconds per frame, and maintains information about the original aspect ratio.
In theory, all FLC animations must loop, but in practice this requirement is often ignored.
The image data in FLC files is compressed using a Run-length compression scheme. This is
suitable for animations, but is inappropriate for videos or dithered images.
As mentioned, the FLC format is a successor to (and close cousin of), the older FLI format.
FLI is limited to images 320 by 200 pixels and allows a palette of 256 colors (although the
palette can be changed from line to line to give more colors per frame).
FLI is based on a fixed frame rate specified in "ticks per frame" (there are 70 ticks per
second), and has an implicit 6:5 aspect ratio. In theory, all FLI animations must loop, but in practice this requirement is often ignored.
The image data in FLI files is compressed using a Run-length compression scheme. This is
suitable for animations, but is inappropriate for videos or dithered images.
The FLI format has largely been superseded by its close cousin, (but more flexible) FLC
format.
GIF files can contain bitmaps at a variety of color depths: 2, 4, 16, or 256 color, in each case
with a palette.
The GIF format has between through two revisions (87a and 89a), and the newer revision
(89a) is a superset of the older version (87a). Modern GIF-compatible software, should
therefore have no problem reading files of either revision.
The 89a revision of GIF supports transparency, interlacing, and simple animation whereby
multiple images within a single GIF file can be displayed in a timed or looped sequence.
MNG (pronounced "ming") is a format for storing multiple bitmaps and animations and is a close
cousin of the PNG format.
When storing images, MNG allows both lossless compression similar to PNG, and lossy
compression similar to JPEG.
When storing animations, MNG does not allow audio or video, but does include more

sophisticated animation features than GIF, which help keep file size to a minimum.
While MNG is in principle an excellent file format, there is a major problem with using MNG
for web publishing - namely that most/many web browsers do not support it all, or only if
special plug-ins (which most people won't have are installed).
Swf=his is a format originally devised by Macromedia (subsequently merged into Adobe) for
storing animations (optionally including sounds), although it can also do a lot more than do
animations (for example, process forms or even build entire web sites).
In order to play a SWF file in a user's browser, they must have a Flash plug-in installed,
however most users do have this.
If you have a Flash enabled browser, you should see an example Flash animation in the box
below.
Organisation in the philippines producing animations
ANIMATION is one of the fields of the film industry and is an emerging export winner. The
Philippines has gained worldwide recognition In the production of high quality animated films since
the mid-80¶s. The Philippines now boasts of a total output of some 200 half-hour of TV for export
annually. The Filipinos' extraordinary talent for animation has also been tapped in the production of
high quality animation for feature films, TV commercials, station ID's, web design and logos. Many
international studios such as Disney, Marvel, DreamWorks and Warner Bros. produce substantial
portions of their animation schedule in Manila. Their major considerations in giving subcontracting
jobs to Philippine Animation studios include competitive labor cost, Filipinos' fluency in English,
varied art exposure, enormous talent and ability to relate to Western humor.subcontracting jobs to
Philippine Animation studios
As an independent studio, Top Peg does numerous shows for clients, local and
international. In the Philippines, the company has been given sub-contractual works with
several large studios that are well known in the country. The company has worked with small
studios especially during its opening year. Flexibility is one of its best qualities that help the
studio contribute greatly in the production and success of various shows. Past works include
"Happily Ever After","Bob & Margaret", "Kampung Boy", "Mumble Bumble",
"Baskervilles", "Magic Pudding", "Sissy duckling", "101 Dalmatians", "Mouseworks",
"Hercules, the TV Series"and "Anthony Ant". s talent and ability to relate to
