The Value of Project Management

Control and Consistency – provide effective management control to ensure that investments (in resources, expenses, etc.) are implemented in order to achieve the desired state in a consistent.

Accountability – PM’s holding themselves, their project team members, project sponsors, project owners and project stakeholders accountable for project accomplishments and success.

Validation – confirm that project objectives are aligned with organizational goals, have been met and can be sustained on an ongoing basis.

Execution - the manner, style, and result of performance; the act of accomplishing a strategic or designated objective.

Overall, the Discipline of Project Management helps ensure business objectives and strategies are consistently met across your organization.

• Setting up meetings, writing up agendas, taking meeting notes• ‘Checking the box’• Sending out task lists and reports• Leading calls….

So if it’s not the above, what is it?- Facilitating and creating plans that align with scope and objectives to ensure

projects delivers expected results- Identify risks and issues , including facilitation of discussions to remove

obstacles, mitigate or remove risks- Provide clear direction to teams of project performance expectations, hold

teams, leaders and themselves accountable for project delivery- Facilitating planning, organizational, risk, and other discussions to bring teams

to consensus, drive performance, etc. - Project Management can be a key enabler to drive strategic performance within

an organization, if properly utilized.
