FRANKLIN REGIONAL TRANSIT AUTHORITY (FRTA) PROPOSED VEHICLE MAINTENANCE & OPERATIONS FACILITY

The Franklin Regional Transit Authority (FRTA) facility is in progress with the design for a new vehicle maintenance and transit operations facility of approximately 71,000 sf located on Sandy Lane in Turners Falls, MA. The FRTA has negotiated and is in the process of purchasing land from the Town of Montague on Sandy Lane for the purpose of constructing a new vehicle maintenance and transit operations facility.

As part of the negotiation, FRTA will be providing infrastructure improvements bringing water, sewer, communications, road, and sidewalk from Turnpike Road approximately 500 feet into Sandy Lane to assist the Town of Montague with the construction of their new industrial park located adjacent to the project.

MASSDOT DISTRICT 3 – NEW ADMINISTRATION BUILDING (WORCESTER, MA)

The site of the MassDOT District 3 New Administration Building is on Plantation Parkway near Lake Quinsigamond and Lincoln Street. The new facility will replace the existing MassDOT District 3 Offi ce Building which is outdated and undersized and is located approximately 1-1/4 miles away from the state-of-the-art new facility.

The site is part of a land swap agreement with UMASS Medical Center which desires to expand its campus and create a medical clinic for United States military veterans.

WORCESTER REGIONAL TRANSIT AUTHORITY HEADQUATERS (WORCESTER, MA)

CDR Maguire provided comprehensive Owner’s Project Manager Services, as required by M.G.L. c14,9 relating to the design and construction of a world class and state-of-the-art bus maintenance, operations and storage facility on approximately seven (7) acres in Worcester, Massachusetts.

The new facility serves approximately 70 buses, 42 paratransit vans and 13 support vehicles. It accommodates the increased fl eet size and includes, offi ce space, fuel bays, wash bays, bus and van storage bays, garage and body shop areas, parts storage, locker rooms and showers, lounge, dispatch center, employee parking and green space.

BLACKSTONE VISITOR CENTER – PHASE II (WORCESTER, MA)

The Blackstone Visitor Center site is located within the National Register-Listed Blackstone Canal Historic District and is bordered by the Providence and Worcester rail line on the west, Route 146 on the east and McKeon Road on the south. The site previously was the home to the Rome Building Products structure, which was demolished in 2010. Phase I consisted of repairing/restoring canal walls, installing utilities for Phase II, removal of hazardous soils, capping of soils remaining on site and grading of the site to a near fi nal condition.

Phase I work was completed in 2016; Phase II work began in February 2017 and will be completed by September 2018.
