Project Introduction
• Consists of 1,760 deeded acres timber, sagebrush, and wet/dry meadow habitats.
• Includes Big, Lake, and McCoy Creeks.
• This project will continue to enhance fish and wildlife habitat and will benefit a variety of species such as:
- bull trout
- upland sandpiper
- redband trout
Project cooperators include:
•ARS/OSU
•ODFW
•The Nature Conservancy
•Oregon Water Trust
•Private landowners
Subbasin Needs and Limiting Factors
• Restore anadromous and resident fish to their historic habitats.
• Restore migration routes and connectivity on now isolated populations of bull trout and redband trout.
• Improve meadow habitats through disturbance, water distribution, and other means.
• Improve water quality, with emphasis on reducing summer stream temperature.
• Protect and restore riparian zones from excessive livestock grazing.
• Conduct habitat restoration studies and projects to address
riparian habitat, flow
issues, and water
quality problems.
Our Role in Subbasin Recovery
• Rehabilitation of wet/dry meadow wildlife habitat
- ARS/OSU/BPT irrigation study
- Use of prescribed disturbance
• Rehabilitation of riparian areas and stream banks and enhancement of water quality
- Rosgen Level III assessments
- NAWCA grant opportunities
- Reestablishment of native shrubs
