TGg Passed the Following Motions on
• Recommended use of RTS/CTS exchange mechanism to avoid collisions between legacy 802.11b transmissions and 802.11g OFDM transmissions in a BSS network
• Inclusion of a new information element containing legacy device information in the BSS network
• Inclusion of an extended signal field of 6 usec silence after OFDM packets (to ensure that 802.11a TX-RX turn-around time is satisfied in the 2.4 GHz band)
• Setting the CWmin value to 15 if the BSS network supports data rates in excess of 20 Mbps
• For the Extended Rate PHY, if the received frame was an OFDM frame, the Control Response frame shall be sent at the highest mandatory OFDM rate that is less than or equal to the rate of the received frame

TGg Included Following Coexistence Statement in Draft 2.1
• The 2.45 GHz media is a shared media and co-existence with other devices such as IEEE 802.11b (clause 17 devices) is an important issue for maintaining high performance in 802.11g (ERP) devices. By design, 802.11g coexists with 802.11b and as a result coexists with all approved IEEE standards for the 2.45 GHz band. In addition, the mandatory and optional waveforms utilized by 802.11g are inherently robust against more general interference sources. Coexistence and interference protection is further enhanced by mechanisms in the existing MAC protocol including RTS/CTS, carrier sense and collision avoidance protocols, and MSDU fragmentation.
