The systems MAM were generated out of the media world or developed by these enterprises themselves and achieved in the meantime product maturity. On a long-term basis the delimitation of MAMS and CMS will become increasingly more difficult since they can rather be distinguished from technical viewpoint than due to the functionality. Just in this point the products will approximate always further. In future not far both find present still independent variants. It turned out quickly that HTML will not suffice for the future use. Instead of using predefined models, design instructions are added to the individual sections indi-vidually and thus the description of the document structure is neglected today mostly. Less of the desc-ription of the document structure is used for HTML from that today, as the programming of the document layout. Also XML represents a underset of SGML. Document-technologies must find at last their place in global, na-tional, regional, businesswide and individual spheres. The flood of information does not stop either anymore in front of the private person. Modern document tech-nology solutions must from that not more only onto the so-called professional user in the office, but to be tailored also to private people and people that have to do little with IT. The problem of the overcoming of the flood of information draws increasingly bigger rings with that and has the disadvantage unfortunately, that the once flooded fields are never again cleared.

The vision of the paper-free office

The vision of the automatized transaction processing, at which all paper and elektro nischen documents on the screen are presented, one of the big goals of the in-formation and telecommunication industry is. I always felt this vision of the "paper-free office" as excessive, because actually I belong to the advocates of the "more harmless" variant of the "almost paper-free office". "There will be anonymous quotations as the paper-free office just as little as the paper-free loo" (Excuse!) the leading-motto of the reputable representatives of the Document-Related-technology-sector was indirectly. However, one can not generalize one just the same as the other thing can. We must accept its even coming still more badly - the human being empty office that only still exists in the virtual world of the software. At that it is a question, however, not of the teleplace of

work, but of the incorporation for tasks of the daily job with information from always through the software itself.

Our working world changed - paper is today only a possible representation of contents created with elect-ronic relief. Letters are typed with text processing or generated by host systems as mass sending automati-cally. A breath of the recognition twitched in the heads of the decision makers with the sight of the documents millions, the nine/eleven ones through the streets of New York waved. Every en-terprise, every authority, every organization must deal today with the topic. Even if one does not plan to introduce a system even for a short period of time, one must occupy oneself with what one gets suppliedly as it were - during the next update of the server licenses, in the next office suite, with the next database or ERP upgrade. In many enterprises with heterogeneous IT-landscape the question which redundant functionality of available products one does not use is already more important today than the question whether one affords a new software system besides is. The most important task is to hold the information in the house under control. Here no debate is supposed to be led over how an author has to support his mother tongue. It only goes around, whether that among information technicians increasingly more frequent being observed mixedly English-German "slang" expedient is.

The uncritical incorporation or wrong translation from US catchwords (here: Collaboration, which one means cooperation in the English in a simple way), leads to a fundamental problem of our language for special pur-poses:

The VOI moves certainly more today than we brought ways too then with side averages. It does not depend on the look back as you yourself write. It is to be considered, however, ne-vertheless that the DMS offered the VOI an independent platform, supported the association financially and embossed first the picture of an independent sector in Germany any-way.

Decisive for the future is, that the sector keeps their indepen-dent section and further developed. A recommendation "on-ly" or "major" for those ones system's in Munich I tolerate my viewpoint of the market for little reasonable. Here the individual companies will in addition decide where you place their marketing-billing ultimately from themselves. It is, however, task of an association to become richtungsweisend active in order to demonstrate compactness and to avoid Zersplitterung.

During my era as an executive board chairperson I had made an effort in a long-standing way in vain for interesting leading representatives of the sector in the association job. Here the VOI is today certainly better put forward.

If Ms Greiffenhagen, dear Mr Freiberg, loves as you know, we investigate independently and form ourselves our own opinion. The comments are the heart of ours newsletters. If you regard ends of us as speculation, that does not disturb us. On the other hand we regret that apparently some mem-bers of the VOI executive board felt our comment as a perso-nal attack. Our comments are also a reflection of perceptions of third parties in the market. One must be confronted with these perceptions from outside - even if they do always not agree with the own picture. PROJECT CONSULT is confronted with these perceptions and I assume also the exe-cutive board of the VOI doing this.

I pursue the job of the association for organization and in-formation systems attentively, there the association, as also yours and my enterprise, she and I, is component of this market - or better, component of a Community (the German community word does completely not fit here) that sees itself as a copy of this market. We are, looked at from outside, con-sidered by the customers and the tall ITK providers, still se-condary theater of war. Center VOI Competence Electronic Signature Voucher - The VOI - association Organisations - and e.V. information systems ()http://www.voi.de has transformed his working group "Elektro niche signatu-res" into a center Competence. The center CCES Com-petence Electronic Signature positions as an indepen-dent provider of information on the topic electronic signatures in the DMS Umfeld. It is goal of the Compe-tence Center to make the complex field of electronic signatures clearer. PROJECT CONSULT Comment: To point since the summer in 2003 all indicators up. Especi-ally the DTV, our reference index of the ITK big concerns, did a jump up. Also the DTX recovered and even far above DTV and DAX levelled off. Faced with the consolidation in the market the share prices of OpenText and IXOS but also of FileNET are currently interesting. While OpenText was moving down, IXOS climbed. With that the offer of Open Text could not be more very so attractive onto the IXOS-stockholders, thought as initially. After IXOS could not convince in the past of some schwaechelte and also with his numbers, the rise of the share price illustrates, that IXOS is seen as a winner of the alliance. In July 2003 the new book of Dr. Kampffmeyer is, "Do-cument technologies: Where the journey goes"? appea-red. The extent is 412 pages. The book was misplaced as BoD Book-on-Demand (ISBN: 3-9806756-4-5, € 29,90).

The book deals with the topics "Ways from the Baby-lonian language confusion" (9 chapters); "Current trends" (4 chapters),"User requests drive the market" (6 chapters), "One sentence of document technologies with fences" (3 chapters) and a "view" (11 chapters) to the social environment of the use of and to the future of document related technologies DRT. It is rounded off through numerous definitions, quotations and il-lustrations as well as a source directory and glossary.
