    and history of the group.

    The Godrej Group was established in 1897. Its founder !r. "rdeshir Godrej was a staunch

    The 'ompany celebrated its centenary in 1997. In 1897 a young man named "rdeshir Godrej

    ga#e up law and turned to loc( ma(ing. "rdeshir went on to ma(e safes and security

    e&uipment of the highest order and then stunned the world by creating toilet soap from

    #egetable oil.

    Godrej 'onsumer )roducts is implementing a two$pronged strategy for growth going

    forward. -n the one hand it is planning to eBpand its product portfolio and augment its

    mar(et share in the domestic mar(et.

    -n the other hand it has set sail for o#erseas mar(ets. 3ith the ac&uisition of eyline brands

    in the : in -ctober //? it has made a strong entry into the : mar(et and is trying for a

    couple of more ac&uisitions. -n the domestic turf it is le#eraging its leadership position in
