PROGRESSIVE CHHATTISGARH
In Chhattisgarh, the installed power generation capacity in Chhattisgarh touched
16,000 MW in the financial year 2014-15 and achieved the second position.
In FY 2014-15, the power production capacity in the state touched 16,000 MW
with the contribution of both public and private sector power plants.
The Chhattisgarh State Power Generation Company Ltd has been continuously
excelling in electricity generation and ensuring uninterrupted quality power supply
to citizens of Progressive Chhattisgarh.
Citing a report of Central Electricity Authority, Chhattisgarh remained in the
second position in the country in power production in the previous fiscal,
while it ranked sixth in the FY 2013-14.
In 2000, when the state was formed, total power demand was 900 MW, which
has now gone up to 3,550 MW. The number of consumers, which was 18.91
lakh at the time, has jumped to 41 lakh.
According to the increase in consumers, the state has increased its demand. This
increase in consumers, demand as well as power generation clearly highlights the
state development.
Under the 12th five year plan, 19 new power plants would start commercial
production of 2,100 MW with a cumulative capacity in Progressive
Chhattisgarh.
The GMR group signed the MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) with the
Government of Chhattisgarh for the power plant in 2008 and received environment
clearance and consent to establish the same in 2011.
