Roundtable: Building Theatre Programs and Advocacy Advocacy can be the key to building a theatre program. Join this roundtable of ideas from building a program from the ground up to seasoned programs. Carrie Baker is the theatre and forensics teacher at Ronald Reagan High School. I can’t draw, how can I design scenery? Gary Olsen Simple techniques for constructing scale models and perspective sketches. Gary is the chair of the UWSP Department of Theatre & Dance. Surviving the SLOs and PPGs in EE, Mark Mueller This new program of EE has been implemented into every classroom. While many schools are providing information related to core classes, this workshop provides information relating to the arts, especially measuring and using data in theatre. Mark is one of the education consultants well versed in Educator Effectiveness from Wisconsin’s Department of Instruction. Session II, NFAC 110

Designing with Automated Light Fixtures – Fast, Kurt Schnabel How to utilize automated and LED lighting instruments when you don’t have much tech time. Explore methods for quickly programming looks and actively engaging students as either lighting designers or assistants. Prep and Evaluation for WHSTF One Acts, Adam Jacobi This workshop will provide a clear path concerning the One Acts process from district to State Theatre Festival. A new rubric to the evaluation process has been developed that will help make clearer constructive criticism. Feedback on this process is always welcome. Adam Jacobi is currently the WHSFA Executive Director. Session III & IV NFAC 164

How DPI can help you in the Classroom, Mark Mueller Having a stressful time in the classroom? Feeling unsupported in your district? This workshop will help you with curriculum mapping and other professional development ideas and opportunities provided from DPI. So you want to do a production that involves “Performer Flying”? Scott Wirtz-Olsen Come learn the basics and vocabulary you will encounter as you work with a flying company on your production. What shows are options? Who creates the flying movements and how involved can you be? Basics of performer flying systems. What will the others on my production team need to know; as they design their respective elements. Scott is the Technical Director for UW- Stevens Point, a Flying Director with Hall Associates Flying Effects and a UWSP alumna. Sessions I and IV in NFAC 120, Studio Theatre

Hand-to-Hand Stage Combat 101, Jared Hanlin Nervous about staging that slap or punch in a believable way that still keeps everyone safe?! Have no fear – this class will provide the most effective strategies and best safety practices for approaching the most common needs of scenes with unarmed violence: slaps, punches, and grappling. Jared teaches voice, movement and stage combat for UWSP. Session II in NFAC 283 A Seasoned Viewpoint on the Production Season, Chuck Malone Learning is best from experienced teachers. This workshop provides the wisdom, humor and memorable moments throughout a teaching career as well as building production seasons. Chuck is a retired teacher from Catholic Memorial and Waukesha North. He also is a retired WHSFA’s Executive Director. Session I in NFAC 164

College Auditions: How to help prepare your students for a collegiate program audition. Tyler Marchant This session will cover Qualities/Pitfalls of selecting audition material. In addition, a discussion of audition protocol/technique will also be covered. Help your students prepare a professional looking audition with these tips. Tyler co-teaches the UWSP Senior Showcase capstone as well as acting, directing and playwriting Session II NFAC 164.
