COURSE OUTLINE: This course delves more deeply intothe legal and operational nitty gritty of running assetmanagement contracts. The training will use the JCTMeasured Term Contract as it’s base and will lookspecifically at how delegates can practically managecontracts on the ground to ensure that it performs well.

The interactive session will look at the value of effectivecontract administration, how to recognise common areasof risk and how to approach them. Delegates will betterunderstand the material contractual terms and conditions,as well as the impact of disputes, and how to deal withthem.

Practical ContractAdministrationW I T H S O U T H E A S T C O N S O R T I U M

COURSE OUTLINE: The one-day course will look at thetheory of contract administration, along with some examples using the JCT Intermediate Building Contract withcontractor’s design 2016 as the basis. The session will beinteractive in nature with a mixture of teaching anddiscussion - the aim is for each delegate to learn from eachother and not just imparting knowledge from the front.

The day will be a mixture of fun and learning - participantsshould expect to end the day with solid, practical tips andexamples to use in their day-to-day work situations;enabling them to manage contract administration in a moreconfident and professional manner.

COURSE OUTLINE: We’ve recently witnessed a surge in thenumber of disrepair claims brought against social landlords.These claims often involve defending EnvironmentalProtection Act prosecutions in the Magistrates Court. Sincethe new Fitness for Human Habitation Act came into effectfor all existing tenancies on 20 March 2020, the currentinflux is likely to turn into a flood of claims.To help tackleyour incoming claims, and future-proof your organisationagainst the possibility of even more, we’ve teamed up withBirketts to deliver this interactive one-day training course.

COURSE OUTLINE: This one day course gives a soundgrounding in the principles and practice of the Housing Health and Safety Rating System. Andrew will explainwhat the hazards are, the way the system works and setout the implications for decent homes and for inspectionsand maintenance programmes. There is an emphasisthroughout on the practicalities for social landlords.

This course is ideal for Property staff involved withresponse repairs, void works, planned maintenance andmajor works. It is essential that both staff carrying outinspections and those with strategic responsibilitiesunderstand the system.

ANDREW LAVENDER is delivering this course on behalfof SEC. Andrew qualified as an Environmental HealthPractitioner in 1993. He worked for Welsh authorities asa housing specialist until 1998, in his final role responsiblefor area renewal, before taking up a specialist litigationpost with a prominent firm of solicitors.
