welcome address
Dear Colleagues and Friends,
The 1st Orthopaedic Department of the “G. Papanikolaou” General Regional Hospital (Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, AUTH), in collaboration with the Orthopaedic & Traumatology Asso-ciation of Macedonia - Thrace and with the support of the Balkan Association of Plastic Recon-structive and Aesthetic Surgery, would like to invite you to the “4th Seminar on Tendon Transfers of the Upper limb on Fresh Cadaveric Specimens”. The seminar will be taking place on 22-24 February 2018 in Thessaloniki for the fourth consecutive time.
Thanks to your support during all these years, our efforts to establish the Seminar as an annual educational institution have been proven fruitful despite the sharp economic downturn in the country which has an impact in all domains. Anticipating your active participation this year as well, we have the ambition to organize an equally major scientific event.
Tendon transfer constitutes a very special part of the upper limb surgery. As long as being per-formed by experienced surgeons and with the appropriate planning, tendon transfers are surgical procedures that can provide definitive solutions by improving the functionality of the upper limb. The latest trends and developments in upper limb surgery help in selecting the appropriate tech-nique, while the relevant practical training ensures the optimal result, offering valuable experi-ence to the prospective upper limb surgeons.
This year our program will be enriched with lectures and hands-on sessions by Plastic Surgeon colleagues upon the application of skin flaps for covering upper limb deficits. We believe that this collaboration will contribute to having a better understanding of upper limb problems and thus becoming more effective in resolving them both at a theoretical and practical level.
The scientific proceedings of the “4th Seminar on Tendon Transfers of the Upper Limb on Fresh Cadaveric Specimens” will be held at AUTH Center of Dissemination of Research Results (KE.D.E.A.) and the practical exercise on fresh frozen cadaveric speciments will take place at the Laboratory of Anatomy Descriptive AUTH.
Sincerely yours,
