Welcome to the EuroHockey Under 16 Championships III, Wattignies, France

As President of the EHF I am delighted to welcome the players, their families,the officials, media and supporters to the EuroHockey Under 16 Champi-onships III.

The EHF is fully committed to supporting our young players to experience a Eu-roHockey Championships and to compete at the highest level for the agegroup and ability.

For some players this will be a stepping stone for an International hockey ca-reer that could lead them ultimately to an Olympic Games. For many others thisChampionships will be the pinnacle of their playing career.

For all the players I hope that this experience will inspire them into a lifetime of being involved in our won-derfully unique hockey family. Hockey offers them a lot of opportunities as it does to coaches, umpires, ad-ministrators and lifetime fans.

It is vital that you, as a player in your early International career, take the time to think about what kind ofplayer and person you want to be. A tough competitor on the pitch but playing fairly by the rules and a dis-ciplined young adult who shows respect for your fellow competitors and officials off the field? The EHF ex-pects nothing less of you, to do yourself and your country proud during the whole of the Tournament.

To the enthusiastic parents, I thank you for your support, but as I ask the players to show respect, I also askyou to demonstrate how you can show your support for your children and at the same time show respectfor their fellow competitors and the umpires and officials. Be a proud parent, not a loud parent!

Without hosts it would be impossible for us to offer our players this wonderful opportunity and so to Ro-main Nazaret and his team of organisers, I say thank-you for your tireless work. I know you will set the stagefor a fantastic event.

A welcome from the FFH President, Yves Renaud

France is proud and happy to host this new edition of the EuroHockey U16 Na-tions Championship III in Wattignies.

This competition in which the elite of European hockey compete is a formidableopportunity to assist in matches of a high level but also to promote hockey of ouryoung athletes.

The French Hockey Federation would like to thank the European Federation for theconfidence shown in it and it knows how to prove it is up to the designated task.

Gibraltar, Georgia and France will compete against one another for five days toattain the objective they have been preparing for over several months.

The Organising Committee, volunteers, officials and supporters are ready to wel-come these four teams in the best conditions and will put everything in place so that they keep a warmand positive memory of this European competition.

And now let’s get on with the game. Good luck to all the teams!

Bienvenue au EuroHockey Championships III, les Championnats d’Europedes moins de 16 ans à Wattignies, en France.

En tant que présidente de l'EHF, je suis ravie d'accueillir les joueurs, leursfamilles, les officiels, les médias et les supporters à ce Championnat.

L'EHF est pleinement engagée à soutenir nos jeunes joueurs afin qu’ils viventl’expérience d’un Championnat et qu’ils rivalisent au plus haut niveau deleur catégorie d'âge et de leurs compétences.

Pour certains joueurs ce sera un tremplin pour une carrière internationalede hockey qui pourraient les conduire finalement à une édition des Jeux

Olympiques. Pour beaucoup d'autres ce championnat sera l'apogée de leur carrière de joueur.

Pour tous les joueurs, j'espère que cette expérience va les inspirer à vie, pour être impliqué dans notreunique et merveilleuse famille du hockey. Le Hockey offre beaucoup d’opportunités, tant pour eux quepour les entraîneurs, arbitres, dirigeants et fans.

Il est essentiel que vous, en tant que joueur dans votre carrière internationale au début, preniez le tempsde penser au genre de joueur et de personne que vous voulez être. Un concurrent redoutable sur le ter-rain, mais en jouant dans les règles et un jeune adulte discipliné qui montre du respect à ses concurrentset aux officiels hors du terrain? L'EHF n’en attend pas moins de vous, de vous rendre, vous-même et votrepays, fier pendant toute la durée du tournoi.

Pour les parents enthousiastes, je vous remercie pour votre soutien, et de la même façon que je de-mande aux joueurs de faire preuve de respect, je vous demande de démontrer comment vous pouvezexprimer votre soutien à vos enfants tout en faisant preuve de respect pour leurs concurrents, les arbi-tres et les officiels. Soyez un parent fièrement, et non pas bruyamment !

Sans hôtes, il serait impossible pour nous d'offrir à nos joueurs cette merveilleuse occasion et donc, àRomain Nazaret et son équipe d'organisateurs, je dis merci pour votre travail inlassable. Je sais que vousallez préparer le terrain d’ un événement fantastique.

La France est heureuse et fière d’accueillir cette nouvelle édition des Cham-pionnats d’Europe des moins de 16 ans filles à Wattignies.

Cette compétition à laquelle participe l’élite du hockey européen est une for-midable opportunité d’assister à des matchs de haut-niveau et également depromouvoir le hockey de nos jeunes athlètes.

La F.F.H. remercie la Fédération Européenne pour la confiance qu’elle lui a ac-cordée et saura se montrer à la hauteur de cette désignation.

Gibraltar, la Géorgie et la France vont rivaliser pendant 4 jours de tournoi pouratteindre l’objectif qu’elles ont préparé depuis de nombreux mois.

Le Comité d’Organisation, les bénévoles, les officiels, les supporters sont prêts à accueillir 3 équipesdans les meilleures conditions et mettront tout en œuvre pour qu’elles gardent un souvenir chaleureuxet positif de ce rendez-vous européen.
