Película Pelikula 12th Spanish Film FestivalGreenbelt 3 Cinemas
Tras el éxito de las ediciones anteriores, Película se ha convertido en el mayor festival de cine en español del Sudeste asiático, con más de 20 obras cinematográficas y más de 12.000 espectadores a lo largo de dos semanas.
En su 12ª edición, Película le invita a disfrutar de una selección de obras de calidad contrastada, muchas de ellas premiadas en festivales de prestigio. Comedia, drama, suspense, animación, documental, cortometraje… Casi todos los géneros están presentes en esta edición. No podía faltar, al igual que en años anteriores, la sesión golfa para los más noctámbulos. ¡Que disfruten del Festival!
After the success of previous editions, Pelíkula has become the most important Spanish film festival in Southeast Asia with more than 20 movies being screened and over 12,000 spectators attending the two-week event.

Como parte de las celebraciones del día de la Amistad Hispano-Filipina y con motivo de los 500 años del descubrimiento del Océano Pacífico, la University of the Philippines (UP) en colaboración con la Embajada de España ha organizado la “Conferencia Hispano-Filipina sobre el Océano Pacífico” donde historiadores filipinos y españoles explican cómo se desarrollaron las expediciones del Galeón de Manila, desde la vida diaria de sus tripulantes, anécdotas y posibles rutas que finalmente no se realizaron, la llegada a Filipinas y la relación que mantuvieron españoles y filipinos (estudios botánicos, religión, lengua, relación con México…).
The Philippine-Spanish Conference on the Pacific Ocean, organized to commemorate the 500th year anniversary of the discovery of this vast body of water, brings together Filipino and Spanish historians to expound on the course of the Manila Galleon expedition, from the daily lives of its crew members to anecdotes and possible routes that at the end were never taken, the arrival of the Spaniards in the Philippines (botanical studies, religion, language, relations with Mexico, etc.)

En 1513 el extremeño Vasco Núñez de Balboa divisaba un nuevo océano para el mundo europeo, confirmando lo que entonces ya se intuía: un nuevo mar, desconocido y oscuro se extendía a las tierras recién descubiertas de América y Asia. Balboa bautizó su descubrimiento como la “Mar del Sur”, sin sospechar que al tomar posesión del mismo para la corona castellana se encontraba ante el océano más grande de la tierra.
Comienza entonces un proceso histórico apasionante que a menudo ha quedado eclipsado por la empresa americana. En pocos años decenas de navegantes dibujaban con sus naves los caminos del nuevo océano. España se asentaba en Filipinas, Islas Carolinas y Marianas, se iniciaban contactos con los reinos de China y Japón y el Galeón de Manila establecía la primera ruta comercial entre tres continentes. En menos de cien años navegantes, religiosos, políticos y gentes en busca de una vida mejor habían convertido aquel vacío cartográfico en un concepto definible, en un nexo de unión comercial y cultural que cambiaría la forma de ver el mundo.
Del mismo modo que el Océano Pacífico se considera el “Mar de Mares”, esta exposición compone la historia del Pacífico español a partir de los documentos custodiados por el Archivo General de Indias de Sevilla y otros archivos estatales españoles.
In 1513 Spanish explorer Vasco Nuñez de Balboa caught sight of a new ocean for the European world, confirming what he already knew intuitively: a new sea, unknown and dark, lying between Asia and the recently discovered territories in America. Balboa named his discovery South
Sea without suspecting that upon conquering it in behalf of the Spanish Crown, what lay before him was the biggest ocean on earth.
Thus begins a passionate historical process which has often been overshadowed by the American endeavor. In a matter of few years tens of seafarers would determine the course of their navigation through the new ocean. Spain would settle in the Philippines, on the Caroline and Marianas Islands; it would found the first university in the region; it would initiate contacts with the kingdoms of China and Japan; and the Manila Galleon would establish the first commercial route between the three continents. In less than a hundred years, sailors, religious, politicians and people in search of a better life had turned the cartographic vacuum into a definable concept, into a commercial and cultural link that would change worldview.In the same manner that the Pacific Ocean is considered as the “Sea of All Seas”, this exhibit puts together the history of Spanish Pacific based on the documents kept by the Archivo General de Indias in Seville and other Spanish state archives.

Moviéndose entre los diferentes palos del flamenco en las formas más ortodoxas, Úrsula López, acompañada de sus bailarines y músicos se propone con “Abriendo Caminos” transmitir sentimientos y emociones, mostrando al mundo un toque actualizado del flamenco.“Abriendo Caminos” se compone de diferentes partes cuyo único hilo común es un verdadero gusto por el flamenco y la música interpretada por músicos en directo.
Flamenco dancer Úrsula López directs and choreographs this show, with which she breaks away from her usual roles as a soloist for numerous dance companies and shows. For the first time she directs her own dance company. With “Abriendo Caminos” and using the most traditional flamenco styles, Úrsula López, accompanied by her dancers and musicians, aspires to convey feelings and emotions, showing to the world a modern touch of flamenco. “Abriendo Caminos” is composed of different parts whose unique common thread hangs upon a real appreciation of flamenco and the live performance of musicians.

La Embajada de España, conjuntamente con la Agencia Española de Cooperación Internacional y para el Desarrollo (AECID) organiza el Seminario sobre Conservación Preventiva en Museos Expuestos a Climas Tropicales y Subtropicales en el que se darán una serie de charlas sobre conservación, arquitectura de museos y rehabilitación de edificios históricos realizadas por 2 expertos profesores que se desplazan desde España.
Este seminario está dirigido a los representantes de los museos e instituciones artísticas más importantes de Filipinas.
Organized jointly by the Embassy of Spain and the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID), the Seminar on Preventive Preservation in Museums Exposed to Tropical and Subtropical Climates counts on the expertise of two professors from Spain who will give a series of talks on preservation, architecture of museums and rehabilitation of historical buildings.
This symposium is designed for representatives of the most important museums and art institutions in the Philippines.

español en la zona Asia-Pacífico.
En el III Congreso se abordarán las perspectivas profesionales y de futuro del mercado del español en Asia-Pacífico, se explorará el punto de vista de los gestores de los centros, como comunicadores directos de las necesidades de instituciones, empresas y público en general y se divulgarán las investigaciones más recientes.
The III International Congress on Spanish as Foreign Language in Asia-Pacific (CE/LEAP) is organized by the Instituto Cervantes de Manila and the Embassy of Spain in collaboration with Ateneo de Manila University in the Philippines. Also collaborating in this congress are university Spanish departments as well as foreign languages departments associated with the teaching of the Spanish language in the Asia-Pacific region.
In this Congress professional perspectives and the future of the market of the Spanish language in Asia-pacific will be discussed, while the point of view of consultants such as those championing the needs of institutions, companies and the public in general will be explored and finally, the most recent researches will be made public.

The Intramuros Administration, in cooperation with the Embassy of Spain in the Philippines, presents Pasko sa Intramuros, a Christmas celebration that will take place at the newly restored Ayuntamiento de Manila building. The event includes a Christmas carols competition among choirs of schools in Intramuros, flamenco shows and the performance of the UST Symphony Orchestra.
