OVERVIEWOVERVIEW

NIGHT 1THE CUE: 2ND ANNUALDATE/TIME: AUGUST 11, 2015LOCATION: CRUISEPORT BOSTONEST. GUESTS: 1,000 (Ticketed Event- VIPs, select media, local celebrity chefs, clients from the restaurant community, and extreme foodies)

This smoking hot event brings BBQ back to Boston. Before the event, top local mixologists will face off against each other on bostonmagazine.com, competing for the public's top vote. The ten finalists will be mixing cocktails at The Cue, where a select group of leading BBQ chefs in the Boston area will feature their famous dishes. While at the event, guests will place their final vote for best mixologist and taste other summer classic foods like grilled shrimp and corn, clam chowder, and the ever-popular ice cream bar.

HOW DOES THE PROGRAM WORK?PHASE 1:PRE-PROMOTIONDuring the months of April, Boston magazine runs a restuarnts/publicist media blitz, inviting mixologists to sign up for the competition and chefs to sign up for the program. While doing so, we will start pre-promotion for the program through print, digital and social media efforts.

PHASE 2:VOTINGStarting in May and running through the July 4th weekend, the public will vote for their favorite cocktail on bostonmagazine.com. All are invited to vote once a day and check the rankings in real time! Plus, all featured chefs will be showcased on the site with information on their delicious dishes.

PHASE 3:THE EVENTAfter voting ends in early July, the top 10 mixologists have one month to get ready to compete! The Cue takes place on August 11th, where 1,000 guests will be able to eat all the BBQ they can handle, sample the cocktails in person, and place their one vote for the best cocktail in Boston. At the end of the night, the winner is awarded the trophy, a profile in Boston magazine, and will be sent to a music festival in Texas.

PROGRAM OVERVIEWIn its second year, this fully integrated print/digital/event program will invite chefs and mixologists from the area to create their best dishes and drinks live for one night. While the restaurants are showcasing their best BBQ bites, the remaining mixologists will be serving up their finest cocktails for the guests’ vote. Only one mixologist will be named the champion! This five month program provides sponsors extended exposure with a multi-media marketing campaign, wrapping up with on-site promotion through custom integration at the event.
